Eeeeekkkkkk!!!! Makes me not want to have one. It's gone from a Krauss-Maffei to a "Kraut-Mafia" in one horrifying recast.
LOL! The last three letters in his description tells the whole story! Anybody that I've know who has added those three letters behind their name shouldn't have! There was a guy in one of the local clubs who rushed through that exercise and then added MMR to his checks! When ever he would introduce himself to new or prospective club members he would shake their hands vigorously and say "Hi, I'm So and So...MMR!" While the MMR program is a good idea IMHO, it seems to give most who take it a false sense of ability. This seller is another example. I don't think I've ever met a good modeler who uses or proclaims loudly that they've passed this course. LOL
I find it kind of interesting that no one on the forum has posted that they know the guy. When you search the web, he seems to be very active in the hobby. Maybe all of his friends hang out in the G forum. Oops, scratch that thought, no one hangs out in the G forum
Hot dog, it works! I'll never see [about 20 seller names mercifully not named] again if I can help it... over one thousand auction listings now hidden from view. I've saved this search as, you guessed it, "N Scale Ignore List."
I have seen, and drooled over, Mike Danneman's K-M's personally. Regarding these K-M's, I was once told if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. . . . . . . . . . . . !!!!
Wow! Now you can add your own Crayola coloring.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Krauss-Maff...712198?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4602349906
So much for promoting the hobby... I find it interesting that some of the same folks who claim to support the hobby start slamming someone who has created something to possibly fill a need. The listing doesn't appear to be the run-of-the-mill "give me all your money for this ultra-rare item", but someone who is possibly among us here on TB and sharing what he/she feels is an acceptable model at a what they believe to be at a reasonable cost. Whether it is reasonable at that price or not up to the standards we as a group expect these days is not the issue, the issue is that some members - even sarcastic staff - have taken exception to something they don't want, need, or think anyone else does. Shameful. It's comments like these that make me rethink my annual support of TB. If you don't want or need it, move on. Save the comments for the sharks and crooks on the 'bay.
The title of the thread is 'More ebay Humor'. Whether its assanine pricing...shipping...or the condition of an item in general. The model shown has painted windows and the red looks like it was put on with lipstick...just 2 things I noticed !!! The price isnt so much the humor...the modeling is...doesnt matter who posted it at ebay ! JMO
Marc, I have to agree with you. I know the cost of some items may appear high to me, but if people are willing to pay the prices, yeah! That would mean it would be more worthwhile for manufacturers to make more items for us. Supply and demand. If someone is willing to sell and someone is willing to buy, it's not humor, it's economics.
Hmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn? http://www.ebay.com/itm/N-scale-Bac...772196?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item416402b0e4
A quick look at this person's completed auction shows a lack of RR items. They don't sell much of anything.
Is it just my observation but are folks that are the potential customers for those items becoming better informed and keeping their wallets and cards tightly tucked away? Or is it that it's tax season and folks have gotten bit by Uncle for more money? While the price for the little 4-4-0 is close to store value for a set, it is used and it is the older version of that loco since Bmann has reworked at least the tender pick-up on that loco. Also the price is for the complete set with track and power pack which I don't see listed. A better value is the six car set of Bmann 65 ft. shorties below since it does have the rather rare obs. car in the set.
With a price like that I doubt he sells anything, except to the people that have no clue what they are buying! There is a guy out of Portland (not going to mention his name) that brings all kinds of JUNK to swap meets. Latest one was he had a Atlas SD9 with a Kato drive in CB&Q on his table for $85! They sold for $40 new! And this one had a busted coupler and who knows how much running time on it. And the funny thing is, he always has different stuff. So that tells me that he must be selling to someone. I know one someone that wont buy anything from him. ME!
This one is unknown in my limited knowledge - it has four offers, all declined - anyone have the story on it? The seller is one we have noted before in this humor post. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINITRIX-ST...425715?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4cfd043473
Maybe they missread the dollar sign on the price tag as a "3". Instead of $45.95, it came out 345.95. You never know. LOL. I bet they are really taken back by the people offering them $20 for it.
