Well this time I decided to try using acryilic craft paints. By using them straight,,and also making washes. I took these pics,, but they look better in person. Well,,, Next time I will try to combine the meathods. Adios Wyatt
Looks crappy......X2! BTW, are there any lightly weathered cars on your version of the SOO? Maybe somewhere in your yard you can install a car washer, and only weather half a car, with the clean side coming out of the wash.....(insert smiley)
Looking good. Weathering can be lots of fun if one just goes with the flow :>) For larger scales I've found a good starting point is to fade the cars first by spraying a thin coat of pollyscale rust or other similiar color. For some reason this works no matter what the car color. The more you spray the more it fades. Once the whole thing looks older then work on the rust, grime, graffit, etc. I'm just starting to work with N scale so I don't know if this trick will work as well on the small stuff but I've had trouble getting a good back ground body fade with a hand brush so I plan to try the airbrush method.....dave
Nice weathering, Wyatt! I haven't much started weathering for 2 reasons: Little time to do 400+ cars Once I start weathering, any unweathered cars would look out of place Out of place cars would go back into the box, wasting more time.... :tb-wacky::tb-tongue:
