These are the things that make me hesitant about going into N Scale, and others, right now I don't really have the space for a layout, but the wife and I would like to try and find a house to rent with a basement so I can build a layout.I have been in HO Scale most of my life except of a couple of years in N Scale in the late 1980's. I would like to build a nice size layout, and N Scale with the amount of space you can have for a layout made it an attractive scale for me in a smaller space.Modeling the Milwaukee from 1979-1980 at the time of the shutdown of the Iowa Division,SD40-2's snd MP15AC's very common on the line along with GP40's,Trying to find Kato early version SD40-2's in Milwaukee is hard and the price is not cheap. That is why I have been hoping for one of the manufacturers to do an early version SD40-2 in Milwaukee Road and other road names that would sell and attract others to the hobby. may be I should start a thread on a Micro Trains SD40-2 in N Scale since they are doing one in Z Scale, the tooling would be easier to do in N Scale than Z Scale.May be I should have every one chime in on how many of these SD40-2's they would order, early version, with or without dynamics, fuel tank sizes, track types, and include the late version and snoots and mod production since Kato is doing only the mid production version in limited roadnames. We could then let Micro Trains see how many orders they would get if they offered this locomotive in N Scale. I guess the moral of the story is never say never....either that or it was the new guy that pursued this and has no recollection of the previous emails 6 years ago... Cheers, Brian
I must admit I was quite confused when I opened this thread and thought IM had canceled the model now. Then I noticed that the first 2 pages of this thread were from 2008.
I didn't notice that either... maybe a reference to the newer thread is in order... http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?156189-Intermountain-Announces-SD40-2
I wish Atlas wouldn't keep on producing Phase I SD9s. I need Phase III and IV SD9s for the DM&IR. Also, they need to come out in the Arrowhead scheme, not just the early EMD scheme.
