Happy Hunting Blame Dan, he was the one that wanted the Advanced game to be at the "UH2BK" level so I hope to live up to it by keep searching and finding these remote sites for you experts to hunt down week after week. :tb-cool: :tb-cool: :tb-cool: :tb-cool:
Okay, trees. The shadow is wrong for Northern Hemisphere, so either the photo is rotated or the location is below the dotted line. Bridge is not a trestle, the shadows indicate solid pillars and nothing overly fancy (could be arches?). Is the line disused? because that's going to stop most of my techniques. A fairly large engineering effort; high viaduct, retaining wall leading into a tunnel. No actual sign of water. None of this lends me a country name or even a continent. That's me out of ideas.
The pictures have always been rotated, ever since the beginning of these contests, so never count on the direction. However, in the past the compass was shown. Darren decided to make it tough on us and hide the compass. I bet he may eventually try to trip us up and make north point up.
Yes, I am aware that this is legal within the rules; and even caught myself out with it previously. What I'm pointing out is that in the Northern Hemisphere, shadows are usually on the North side of a building; and the east/west side depending on the time of day. I.e. it is my opinion that this photo is either rotated or the prototype is below the equator; down here where it is warm. Trying to cover the "facts" about the photo to make it easy(/ier) to locate. For example, if the shadows were on the south side and people were driving on the left, that narrows the countries available somewhat. Although, this one just doesn't have enough clues, so unless I've been there, I'd be flying in the dark. Someone else's turn to find this one
First thing that comes to my mind is abandoned Milwaukee Road ROW, but that's probably too easy.........
That's what I thought at first last night, But I bummed around Montana and Idaho for a while last night and nothing looked right. So off I went.... Southeast France.....Close, But nope!......Northern Italy....Hmmm. Where would Darren go to look for something? Looks like Italy,But not remote enough..... An Island! Sicily! Cha Ching!:tb-tongue:
South?? My computer screen shows North of Regalbuto!! :tb-tongue: Regardless.....Congrats on finding an obscure location! I also thought either MILW or the NorPac across Montana somewhere.
Ooppps! See, I did it to myself! I rotated the photo to match what Darren posted, and got south and north screwy! You're right, It's North.:tb-embarrassed:
WINNER!!!!!!! Congratulations! Scott Stutzman Regalbuto, Italy Location submitted by Stourbridge Lion
Looks like it's time to change tactics since you are catching on to me... Yep, I turned the world upside down again on the first post and rotated it again on the second image. :tb-cool: :tb-cool: :tb-cool:
