Keep 'em coming, Kevin. Nice progress being made. Man, those siphons are big in the firebox! :tb-biggrin:
Thanks, Yep them critters are big, and banging your head on them hurts, even with a hard hat. (grin) funny thing about the fire box, my daughters bedroom is only slightly bigger.... the grate area is 108 square feet... Regards, Kevin
Sorry about the Hiautus, I finally got a flying car but the impact knocked me unconcious and I dont rember it.... I was rear inded wiating for a light by a truck moving 50 MPH+, I got out of it with a few stiches on my elbow and a full body bruise. (Grin) Alas the small car is a total loss. Nice to know you are doing fine. And there's continued steady progress with this restoration. Boxcab E50
Wow, that sounded like a hard lick! Good to see you're doing well. Nice to see the 2926 is doing well, too!
Kevin, thanks for the latest photos. Somehow I missed the message about your accident. Man, the car looks bad. Glad you are OK. It's nice to see some of the SBRHS guys working with you. It will be even nicer to see the 3751 and 2926 doubleheading on Raton Pass! :tb-biggrin:
Hear the latest photos from the club site. It seems we've hit a major milestone, there's this layer of nice black paint on the tender. The tender looks really extraordinary take a look. tender paint The day after they painted a was the regular work session. The air compressors and they are installing used to supply air pressure to start some half megawatt generators. The new set up is going to provide serious numbers of cubic feet per minute. 7-26-08 Regards, Kevin
Thanks for sharing the progress made. I particularly like one picture where you can see three of the volunteers in the reflection of the paint on the tender. Nice shooting. It's coming together.
Kevin, so glad to see the progress your team is making. This is a truly great undertaking, to get the biggest and best 4-8-4 ever built (that's heresy to my NY Central buddies) restored to run again. Keep goin, guys and gals! :tb-biggrin:
It is such a pleasure to see a serious restoration taking place, and how much work your team is putting into it. Good Lord, how many staybolts are in that boiler? :tb-confused:
Grin, I don't remember exactly, but the count is well over 1250. Most of the stay bolts are flexible stay bolts, just think all those caps have to be removed, cleaned, sealed, and replaced. Still work proceeds apace, Kevin
Incredible! And you folks are doing it without UP's budget! And I thought the UP 844 rebuild was impressive!
Hi All, Here are the latest photos from the Club page. 8-23-08 and here another mile stone, 8-30-08 Regards, Kevin
