Cool stuff! Boy, the old 278 has seen better days... Someone should spruce it up... Thanks for sharing!!!
Our final stop along the old Creede branch was in Monte Vista, CO. Someday I hope to explore the remainder of the route. I happened to find the yard where I think that the group restoring the Creede branch has staged their equipment.
Does anyone else have any pictures from this branch that they would like to share? If so please post them. I would like to see them. Ben
From Monte Vista we went to Durango, CO and spent the night. We happened to catch the 8:15 am departure of the D&SNGRR on the following day.
I have photos of some of those goodies you found in Monte Vista in 2005 as well as some found in South Fork. When I get a chance, I'll post some
In Monte Vista: (a few shots match yours precisely; with only the addition of snow, when I went thru town... Flanger 052 was there along with 062: Same caboose as well as that steam engine: The Action Road: Old school!!
There was no NG equipment in the way, blocking my shots, so here's a few other things: Not in MV, but seen in Cheyenne, aparently enroute to MV:
Brings back some great memories and some new trip ideas too! :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin: :tb-biggrin:
This D&RGW 44T was in South Fork: The SP unit at the head end of this ragtag bunch of rolling stock: An ancient bulkhead flat: I'm gonna guess that SLRG owns this stuff? Another flat, loaded up with MOW gear:
For some reason, I cannot find the pic of the MKT boxcar at the tail end... Here's a gon in that train as well. I forgot to get pics of the other items in South Fork, namely the stuff Ben has posted already...
