Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged. 5. Only one image per participant so please choose the image carefully. 6. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will be deleted. 7. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between the 10th and 13th of August 2007. 8. Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct. I look forward to seeing many contributors, remember this is to encourage all modellers to take a shot of the subject rather than post a photo taken in the past.
No cabooses in the NT, but would a crew car count? Even tho its at the wrong end of the train its still almost the same.
I knew it was a modeling challenge! Really... Third try. Here is an Espee caboose as described by Joe Strapac in vol one, SPHS Streamliner magazine. It is a model Power with Gold Medal Model details. Smoke jack and frog eye lights are scratch built.
Future Model - Anywone want to build it for me? I'll sit this one out. I don't have anything of merit. I did think of creating a mockup of a "modern caboose". What would it include and what would its purpose be? I think I was inspired by the Trains article about local freights. It had a picture of a loco at both ends of the train. The rear loco was for taking care of trailing point spurs. My design for a moder caboose would include: Small diesel with enough power to move 10 to 20 cars. Extended vision cupola with controls GPS, Microwave, and Radio Permanently equipped FRED at each end Office with computer and connection to web, bunk, galley kitchen Just my thoughts. Lucky for you I don't have the time to even build a mockup.
This is one of my two transfer cabooses. A good place for Hobos. It was a Red Caboose flat car and a MOLOCO KIT. Wolfgang
Here is my entry. I hope I picked the right one to enter in the contest. I always take several then worry about which one I should use. click on the photo to see the ones that were left on the cutting room floor:sad:
