    Jim,
I think Brad is getting tired of all of us getting to play with trains so he has drummed up this scenario to make us think that ZCS is broken, when in reality he just wants all the rest of us to go back to work making money to help pay more taxes to bail out the idiots back East who don't know how to run things in the first place. Brad must figure that if he has to work, then all of us should too. Oh the cruelty of it all.)

Whoa there young fellow -- some of your customers are "Back East" like Bob Ash.... and me and ZTrack is Back East, and Dave George and Garth are "Back East". Little more specificity, please or I'll report you to Karin.

    Ok Don,
More specificity if you please.........The folks who have managed to screw things up in the stock market, Freddie and Fannie, AIG, the government take over of the other firms and the necessary 700 billion bailout that will cost me money because you won't be able to purchase any Z items from me........for that matter, I won't be able to purchase any either to sell to you. So I guess we're all messed up.

I certainly wasn't referring to any Z scalers who are too smart to do something like that.

    Does that work?

    Hello,
The new ZCS is up and running as a test site on a new server with a new hosting company. I am brushing up my SQL skills and transfering "tables" over from the old database. All user names and post counts are moved. I even recovered Tim's missing post counts! The new site will go live after a few more days with limited features to start.

The bad news is that some of the database is corrupt and I may not recover it all. Some features like the photo gallery 'may' require a fresh start. I appreciate all the support, patience, and help offers everyone has been offering!

Looks like ZCentral is down again. All I get when I try to go there is the word "Error" on a white screen.

Things have improved somewhat: This morning (10/7/08) I'm getting a page announcing "Coming Soon: The All New Z Central Station", and then a link to a temporary Yahoo! Group site for ZCS. That's better than what I was getting yesterday: the more or less familiar ZCS home page, where I'd log on, be thanked for doing so, and then be sent back to a non-logged on version of the same home page.

To quote my favorite philosopher, Bullwinkle J. Moose "Well, at least I'm gettin' close!".

I got a quick peek a few hours ago, and the opening page was a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. Really nice.

Friends, We want the site up and running with no errors on opening day. Have patience. Right now the big problem is finding a compatible Photos program. Also for those special people out there is there anyone conversant in New BB and able to export it to Fireboard w/Community Builder? Let me know if you are that 'special' person. Cheers, Jim CCRR

Thumbs up to you guys! To all who is working on the reconstruction of Z Central, this is a lot of work. We all take for granted when we post a comment, myself included.
I was very sad to see something like Z central go down like this, and seeing how low it had become during the last few weeks, what a petty! Please don't give up Admins!

Hopefully everyone will come back and post stuff there.

Ben, Thanks for the encouragement. We need it actually. This is a very difficult undertaking. Brad had no idea ZCS would grow to the size it did. We out grew the site, the available band width, everything. We tried to keep it together. Many of you liked the country flags. Seems simple. But none of you know that that was the straw that broke the camels back. The flags alone occupied 60% of the site!!!! Can you imagine? Look at it this way. Each flag did not simply represent that persons country, but ISP as well. Each country has how many ISP's with how many address? Put another way the Flags occupied twice the space as 3300 photos! Who knew? We all liked the Flags but they did us in. The old site cost $6 per month then they wanted $150 per month because of the growth. So on we go. The new site will be 'modular' in that we can put in or leave out. So bear with us, I think you will all like it once it is up and running. Cheers, Jim CCRR

    Jim,
We appreciate all the work going on to reinstate ZSC. If the flags were a major problem-- When a person signs in (JOINS) could he indicate country and state- province etc.. Sort of like trainboard. or like the avatar function?? (Never did figure that one out.)
This might eliminate all the background data that has messed us up and also it would be more accurate as the actual country would be represented and not it's server.
Just some thoughtz- I know NOTHING
    Fred
