That's indeed it! I love that shot!!!!
It clearly shows Tunnel 8 and the old shoofly around the collasping remains of Tunnel 9, used with a 5MPH slow order for 35 years!

Sharp-eyed readers will spot me near the power.... ;)

:eek:mg: Wow! Your next step looks like it will be your last. The pucker power of this shot had me squirming in my chair! Great altitude!

The elevation here is not nearly so lofty, but this will show just how much a short hike can improve a photo.
Here's Tunnel 42, at Radium, CO. The road leading to Radium parallels the ROW near Tunnel 42, and if one would get out of the vehicle and bag a train from road level, this is the un-inspiring shot you get (as I did, when a WB coalie surprised us):

A 10-min hike up a hill, (really not a hard hike, just knee-deep snow) and another WB, this time Amtrak #5, gives a much better angle:

It wasn't as bad as it looks, there's a neat perch there, good and solid. Get any closer to the tracks, and it's a LONG way down.:eek:mg:

How about an altitude of 14,110 feet?

Too bad the light wasn't better, Keith! I love that curve--when I was there last month, we weren't able to get to that location--the bulldozed snowpile was over 20' high!

The sun stayed away most of the day that day!
When it did make an appearance, it was spotty at
best and away fromn the tracks!
Was hoping for better light myself, but........Not that time.
    Another time perhaps.....?

This was taken on Crawford Hill...

And this one in downtown Dallas from the restaurant atop Reunion Tower. The trees in the bottom right corner are overlooking the infamous "grassy knoll".

How long ago was this shot taken? I have been up to Belmont twice and have never seen anything on the former line where the SD40's are setting. Does that section get much use anymore? Does it connect up to the mainline other than at Bemont? Belmont is one of my favorite places on the Hill. A lot of fun to watch those helpers release on the fly!
