Let's see your shots from above track level!

As many of you know, Alaska GP49 and I blaze our own trails to new shots, often high above the ROW. We like to get shots few others have, and create new ones as well.
Here's a view only achievable with a long, tough, steep hike up the canyon across from Tunnel 27, or from a helicopter:

Here's one angle, close to the tunnel:

    And another, farther away:

Nice photos! Also excellent for those needing examples, in order to model rocks, cliffs, and mountains.

Hemi, here's an ancient one from 1947. Details in the "Wreck of the Lake Shore Limited" thread, New York Central forum.

Gee Hemi, that UP pic near Dale Jct. looks familiar somehow, but I just can't place it.........wonder if it looks like this?

And I'm sure you remember this one as well:

No folks, no plagiarism here, we just happened to be railfanning the area one fine October afternoon.

Here's one from just down the line at Perkins:

Sherman Hill, like Moffat, has so many great places to shoot trains from up high it isn't funny. Shame I won't see this altitude in Georgia next week.....

Same general area that Hemi and Frisco posted pictures from. They had a nicer day to shoot pictures. Still it is a nice area to go spend the day.

Not a great shot but gives you an idea. Maybe this belongs in the telephoto thread!

When you are rivet counter you want all the detail you can get. Not content with roster shots and close-ups at ground level, I asked for permission to gain a little elevation! Here is a shot of the roof of former F-7B, ARR 1503 now part of the Royal Gorge collection in Canyon City, CO.

Mike, I love that shot deeper in the cut Bob and I were atop! Very nice angle!
You know, when I made this topic, I had one shot in mind, and Mike knows which one it is.... ;)

Ont he Moffat, elevation is always available, especially on the east slope--it's not always easy to achieve...
Here's a view that you can drive to; just east of East Portal siding (provided you have a high-clearance vehicle):

Here's another, lots of elevation, not so easy to reach--required a steep climb down a precipitous ledge, to clear some annoying weeds and trees. Tunnel 40, in Gore Canyon:
