Georgetown Loop Video - No. 9 http://members.cox.net/frappr/No%209%20smaller.wmv Finally found an application that'd rotate a short video 90 degrees. (I wasn't thinking, and composed/took this video in "portrait" mode just like a still pic, never thinking, "Now how the heck do I rotate it to view it on a PC?"). This is from my late September 2006 CO train riding trip. Rode the Georgetown Loop on the day of the first freak snowstorm of the season. Sorry this attachment is not of the highest quality... it's from my pocket-size digital still camera... that also happens to shoot simple videos. :shade: The engineer backed the train down to under the trestle (look for the trestle/bridge in the clouds to the upper-left), then brought it up the hill through the sleet and the snow. I thought he was going to run on the mainline, but he had the turnout/switch set to the station pass, and he was steaming right up to where I was standing all by myself. Notice the last-minute step-back when I realized my elbows were going to get brushed by the drivers on his way past. :lightbulb: By the time I rode behind No. 9 on the next run, it was snowing so hard you couldn't barely see from one end of the train to the other. Riding behind No. 9 in an open car in the blinding snow was AWESOME!!! :yes9rq: ...Karl
Karl, I don't believe you can upload a video clip directly to a post. You may want to store the video in our RailImages section and post a link to it. Video clips are limited to 2 or 3 megs, so they need to be very short. :teeth:
COOL!!!!!!! Tell me more about this application you found. :computer: :computer: :computer: :computer:
Kludge, at best It turned out to be a real kludge, SL. I used Sonic MyDVD to first capture the original .mpeg file. Then I put that into ArcSoft ShowBiz to do the rotation and save it as a Windows .avi file (since my verison of ShowBiz didn't have a codec to output a rotated .mpeg file). Then I put the rotated .avi file into Roxio VideoWave7 to create the smaller .wmv file that I uploaded to my ISP's personal web space. (Whew!) :grumpy6ho: That seemed like a lot of work just to post one 30-seconds video... (but then, I don't need to tell YOU how time-consuming posting video is). It just seemed like such a unique video of that run-by, I wanted to share it. ...Karl
Thanks! Thanks, Karl. I linked to it from my blog (giving you credit, of course) Awesome video! :shade:
Actaully it would be helpful to be able to rotate sections of videos I have taken too Check this out from earlier times when the Shay's ran the loop...
Yes, I saw that engine on display up in Golden at the CO RR museum. I still haven't ridden behind a Shay, so may try to get to Cass, WV in 2007.
