Well, I got the same old boring stuff like shirts and clothes, but I still got some ZZZZZZZZZZZ. It took me fifteen minutes to add dcc. Next, I need to add the BLMA detail package.

Bryan, I got a SD40 last year, but in a much better lookin scheme. I got a CSX. Man, you are one lucky guy. You must have given her a five page wish list.
I also plan to change the couplers of my business train. There is nothing that will make them look better then getting rid of the lobster claw. I also to plan to use the european passenger cars, and convert them to NA look. I think the Euro passencars are better made. The NA ones are more toy like. I got some MTL passenger trucks to switch them out.

George, I can't wait to see the pictures. John Cubbin and David does amazing work.

Kurt, I watch tons of train video. Where I live, I will be lucky to see one train a month.

Henrik, money is great. Now you can get exactly what you want.

Well, she bought me the CSX two years ago.............and I bought the Conrail for myself earlier this year, just before they sold out.

It was actually only three, but I DID provide pictures, and distinct instructions on how to navigate Anthony's site. And as usual, Anthony's level of personal customer service is UNPARALLELED.

Now I just need some modelling TIME............TIME............TIME.....

Santa was good again this year!

I received two DB blue and white passenger cars that I needed to complete on train. These are 8743 and 8744. Actually, these were a present from my in-laws. I also had a DB flat car wiht a load of 7 recycling containers in green (82584). I really had been wanting this car!

On top of that, I just completed hanging 6 more IBL display cases to house mostly my European collection. I now have room again! I still can't quite figure out how to display my US collection. Of course, select AZL, MTL, and FR. and FR are proudly displayed in the office.

I have this week off and I am really hoping to get down stair and work on the layout. I have a bunch of Ztrack work to do before that. Hey, it is all good!

This is what I got myself for Christmas:

After I heard Loren's laser guy was making laser cut plastic woodchip cars, I decided to experiment with laser engraving the plastic for car sides. I'm not really super happy with it, but they are easy to put together.

The car on the left is rastered at 1000 DPI, and the one on the right is rastered at 600DPI, for a savings of almost 3 minutes off the laser time:

The 1000 DPi car has noticible banding every .020" but the 600 DPI car just has noticible pixels for a less smooth overall surface. This is acrylic sign plastic. I think I like the 600 DPI a bit better.

These cars are Maxon built cars that as far as I can determine, from a batch of only 12 cars ever built to this design. Some other shortline owns them now.

Here is the only proto photo I can find on the web:

Moving on to Gunderson Deep Rib cars now.

    Robert,

Do you mean those sides were cut (dug out) from a single piece of plastic?

Oh, more kits from Robert to spend money on. Will these go on sale through ZTrack? Or are these for Robert's personal roster?

    Bryan,

The only train I got was another of the Hallmark Veranda turbines from my mom who didn't know (and I didn't tell her) that I already have 4 of them. That's OK, it will still be put to use.

I got T-shirts from the kids.

However, after I got all dejected looking about not getting any trains, my wife reminded me that she just got to buy about $300 of cross-stitch stuff so I get some money to play with. ;-) Need to finish up that SeaRails order and send some money to Loren and Art and Anthony.

I got Avery the Hallmark "boxcar" ornament that I had previously said was probably closer to N scale. Well, as he pulled it out of the box, I realized it's pretty close to Z (probably around the same 1/209 or so that the turbine is). It's actually supposed to be a 50' "Despatch livestock car". Anyone have any details on the prototype? (George, any chance of a UHKORR - Unofficial Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Release Report ?)

OK, I just checked the Hallmark "Livestock Dispatch" car and I overreacted a little bit. It's smaller than previous releases that were close to N scale but still much bigger than Z. The length is just about right for a 50' car, but the width and height are still too big. The trucks are huge compared to Z.

Might get an extra one or two to play around with. They go on sale starting today for around $6.50. You can still get the Veranda Turbine and tender online for about 50% off.

    Hello to you all,

I hope you had a wonderful and merry christmas!

The only Z - present this year was a Marklin PR GG1.
A very nice work but I missed the typical lightning....

May some of you know my profession in loco and car interior lights.
So Idecided to make this GG1 a prototypical one.
Can anybody tell me something about the color and the way of working of the marker (or ditch) lights at the side of the locos front?

    Best,

    Oliver

Hi Oliver! Welcome to Trainboard! I don't know about the GG1 or Pennsy practices, but I hope someone can answer for you so we can see how you light it up. ;)

    Hi Robert,
hopefully your decoders will arrive within the next few days!

I will also bring this GG1 to DCC (including the lights), so this is maybe more intersting for you than usual,

I have a GG1 with a decoder in it, and extra lead weights so it will pull a lot more cars, and I have 7 Pennsy cars, 3 of which are sleepers. I can dream of a Broadway Limited, but the cars are not correct, but I still want to light it all up.
