I see a couple guys have used bookcases or shelves to support their doors. I've also seen articles in MR using folding table legs. Where does one get folding table legs without having to buy a whole table???

If you have a Lowe's in your area, they also keep them in stock.

Thanks, Bob. We have a fairly new Lowe's close by. It's always nice to have some choice.
I'm still debating on which I want. Folding legs would let me move the layout out of the way, but bookshelves would give me additional storage space for all of my Japanese books and DVDs that I've collected.

Sometimes tables (folding legs, plastic top) can be had on sale for less than the folding legs alone.

But, could I still join the TB HCD group if I build my layout on a table? lol

Soitenly! Lay the HCD on top of the table. Ta-daaa!

I plan to put my HCDs on shelf brackets but I have my HO switcher supported by an unused aquarium stand right now while I work on it. I had it on top of the coffee table in my living room but was getting weird looks from visitors...

Tomkat, you almost need yourself that Hot Rod Lincoln! Or, is the T-Bird the intended victim? lol

I think Campp's HCD is 36"? I'm pretty sure it's wider than mine at 30". I love this layout, too. It was part of the insperation for me to build my own HCD layout.

After going back and looking at Campp's first post, I stand corrected. His layout is 30" like mine.

Hi guys, just saw this. It was 30", but I always wished it was 36". Especially if you can walk all the way around. If you cannot walk all the way around, stay with 30".

    You've just described every flyspeck-sized wide-spot-in-the-road town along US 69 in Oklahoma :D :D

Thanks for reviviing this thread! I've been kicking around an N scale HCD layout idea in the back of my mind for a couple of weeks. All these great layouts are adding fuel to the fire!

    Nice work everyone!
