I was about to posts the same links. In my eexperience it never hurts to have a second opinion on things.

So what's the time limit in the forum to ignore posts if new information comes up? Since I just joined should I not look back through old posts? Would you recommend only posting in 2012 posts?

There is no time limit, however the OP had gotten his info years ago...

Guess if you have new info, make sure it hasn't already been posted previously, that's my rule on forums...

Wow with attitudes like this it's no wonder this forum is dead. I think it was a mistake joining this forum.

Ummm, what attitude, if you looked on page 2, the OP got the info he wanted...so had I found "new" info, I'd have read through the thread and saw he got his info in 2006. At which point I'd venture to guess he had either finished this project or moved on.

As I said, there is no time limits for thread bumps, but when a thread has been dead for 6+ years, as this one has, I find it best to just pass over it.

Personal preference. I'm a member of forums where people do ask the same question a hundred times and it does get "old" - however TrainBoard is not one of those forums. And personally, as a big time fan of the FRISCO I never mind old threads bubbling up to the surface for a rehash.
    :teeth:

For awhile it seemed the true airline routing on these GPs might have been lost (surprisingly) as hard core Frisco fans couldn't quite agree which was right. Based on walk-around photos I've seen, I felt the routing matched that of the CNW unit drawings that were available, while others were sticking with the Frisco specific Diesel Era magazine drawing. Thankfully that beautiful rooftop photo referenced earlier removed any doubt.

It is good to give an old thread a shot in the arm - it gets new people interested or re-initiates an old project.

Yes, I did take the info from Diesel Era and ran with it until about the fourteenth iteration of the piping not bending up as I would have liked, and the project lives on safely in a box... for now...

No there isn't. If someone wants to bring it forward, that's their option and perfectly fine to do so here on TrainBoard.

We have this. Relax & enjoy the ride. That's OUR rule on this forum.

Patrick- you just keep on posting, there's no time limts on forums, and we've had more than a few threads resurrected by someone asking questions. Absolutely no harm in that. :)

FYI, klrwhizkid is an avid Frisco modeler, as well as an active member of the frisco.org forum. I respect his knowledge about Frisco, and am privileged to know him. Keith was generous enough to share a post from frisco.org about the air line piping, and it (and he) are more than welcome here.

BTW, Keith- thanks very much for sharing that link. I have the picture stored in my hard drive, and it'll come in handy when I install the piping on that HO scale '35 I got from one of the other Frisco members. And welcome to Trainboard from another Frisco person (same handle on frisco.org).

Did I ever say don't post? Nope, I just wanted to inform him, in case he didn't notice, that he posted on a thread that was last posted on in 2006. I'm a member of many many forums, and it seems often that newer members will post in old threads, often without realizing it.

For my personal preference, I will post at the beginning of old threads, I know this is old...or something along those lines.

Unfortunately, as a number of us saw, the OP did not read it other than a don't post. His reaction was not what we want from folks who have just come aboard. That is the issue.

A newer member posting in an older topic is just fine. It often brings us forward to newer or better information. When I first started out here, I went back into some older topics of MILW history, where there was some outright bad information presented. That FF became the busiest and still is, here.

As long as they are unlocked, discussions remain open to all comers at all times.

Well, if you are posting things that cause people to say things like what is quoted above, maybe you need to refrain from commenting. It's far more important to welcome someone to the forum than to point out that they should make sure they have "new information before posting."

Dear Ike the BN Freak, there has been lots of discussion about the Torpedo-tube GP35s on Frisco.org over the past two months. If you would have taken the time to register (for free, like here) AND use the Search engine, you would have found that that out. It seems that you let your prejudice toward your own railroad of preference get in the way of true knowledge and unintentionally mislead others here.

Anyone interested in the Frisco Torpedo Boat GP35s and/or modeling them, the information is free for the those truly interested on multiple threads at www.frisco.org. There are roof-top pictures and a hand-drawn diagram of the tubing routing taken from a vantage point on a bridge.

BTW, everything that I have seen would indicate that the air tubing routing on the CNW units was the same as that on Frisco units. As someone pointed out, whowever, the air tanks may have been a different diameter on non-dynamic units.

I have no prejudice against the Frisco. I'm a mid 90s BN guy, and by my timeframe Frisco has been a fallen flag for 12-15 years.

And with this second line, it seems no one really has a straight forward answer to how the lines are, if they are the same or different...guess this is when one hopes for prototype pics, but hard to get roof shots of locos, so hope for the best, or guess and hope no one notices its wrong if it is

I just received the Diesel Era issue (May/June 2000) from Withers Publications thanks to Paul himself. The air line routings in their illustrations are very, very close to the hand-sketched drawing by direct observation by one of the prominent members of frisco.org. Attached is a picture of the top of my GP35 as newly custom-modeled by Tom Holley.
