I was talking to my LHS today on this very subject. With the Challenger coming it should be an easy step to producing a cab foward. And I agree, it would be the mother lode to whom ever did it first and right. If the Challenger is a success (runs well, sounds great and hopefully not with MRC sound which is junk) a natual follow-up is the CF-SP. Wow, think of all the money to be made if different versions where released every few months!!!! Be still my heart....

These are the only Cab-Forwards that would interest me, the AM's.

Wow,I thought this thread had died off weeks ago.Good to see you folks are atill interested in this.
*Jamie a poll would be good to send off to Intermountain,I hadn't even thought of it.
If you'd like to set a poll up,I dont have a clue how to.

*Rodney, this was my original plan, get as many ppl emailing Intermnt about a c/f & maybe just maybe one day soon.
I had read the same thing, they are waiting for the HO unit to be finalised before going on with the N version.Fingers x-ed....

And Thirdrail, any c/f in N scale will be a fav of mine.Except maybe the AC9's.

Not quite accurate: PCM currently shows the E7 to be released in May (this year that is! [IMG] ) The Pennsy 4-8-2 isn't due until August.

Charlie Vlk is a rep for PCM .. he can be found on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/n_scale/

I too am awaiting the EMD E-7's. [IMG]

I don't really have any desire for a cab forward but I wouldn't mind them becoming available to use the chassis for other 2-8-8-4 yellowstone projects. Particularly a B&O EM-1.

Also, with PCM announcing an AC-12 in HO, they could be another canidate down the road for an N version.

    Tony:

I'd be very happy with ONE release from PCM.

It seems like a distant memory when PCM first announced their E-7 and PRR steamer in N scale.

Stay cool and run steam..... [IMG]

I dont really care what brand makes it,because you know who ever does, the quality in the detail will be there.
The main thing I'd like to stress to any manufacturer is attention to the running gear,GEARED ALL AXELS with at least one or two traction tyres, why go to all the trouble of making a beautifully detailed loco & it cant pull a decent string of cars.
Oh & tender pick up is a must too.
    Umm,dc sound wouldn't go a-stray either [IMG]
    Ok ok EOR.

    Nice find digisnaps01!
I knew it would happen.I was lucky enough to aquire 2 brass CF's & then this.
Still cant wait for these to be released, will still buy a couple or more :)
Will be very interesting to see what the mech is like.
I have read somewhere that Western Pacific did test AC12's on the Feather Route, but the engineers were spooked at running loco's "cab forward" & the risks of head on's etc scared them off.So who know, maybe we'll see a "what if" WP c/f!
    Lmao,imagin a UP one......

Unfortunately I believe this listing is incorrect. The part numbers and prices listed are for the HO Scale model that is currently available from Intermountain. At this time, there is no information about an N Scale AC-12 on the Intermountain website but hopefully it will be coming in the future. As soon as information and pricing are available, I will definitely be starting a preorder list!

A quote from a reply the other day from intermountain

"According to our product development folks an N scale AC-12 is under consideration for a future project. They did not indicate when anything might happen"

Hmmm, I hope this is code for "It's comming, just be patient"

Well, more likely it means, "Sure we're doing it, but if we say anything certain, four other manufacturers will make one too..." :eek:mg:

Nope; that was AC9 territory; that was the Cab-Forward 2-8-8-4 which ran backasswards - or was it the 4-8-8-2s which ran backasswards? I do believe I have forgotten which was which!!!
