Well my inability to not buy Amtrak never ceases to amaze me.
So this morning I did pull the trigger on 3 ACL-42 locomotives and the new 6 car bookcase set.
The 50'th Anniversary Locomotive ACL-42 will come with a full lighting and sound package to head the consist.

    Photo's when they arrive

Who makes the Dash 8's in CSX? And next question are they new and still made?

Those look like the atlas models (8-40CW) based on the separately applied grabs on top of the hood but molded grabs on the front going up. Right now that particular CSX paint is hard to find but if you are ok with the CSX boxcar livery there are places that still have them and $179 for the sound version which is a excellent deal or $99 for the DC version.

I have their 8-40BW which is essentially the 4 axle version of the same loco and I can testify that it is very nicely done.

I always like seeing N scalers borrowing stuff from other scales to make things not directly available in N.

My latest purchase. Store brand DOUBLE STICK TAPE from the school and office supply aisle at the neighborhood supermarket (name no mentioned per Trainboard policy on retailers.) I was surprised that the only national brand offering of a double-roll package of the product, while the store brand was availalbe in a single roll pack at one-fourth the price.
I use double-stick tape for holding down small N scale structure parts while detail painting. Ran out.

Not exactly a purchase. Just got house painted and about 2 gallons exterior latex paint left over. A neutral-ish beige-ish color that might work for a commercial building model I have planned. Consistency, coverage thickness may not be right for model so I guess I'd better test it with some old scrap kit walls left over from a bash.

You might check the can for instructions for thinning. Maybe just water...?

Indeed. I've used model paint and different craft paints, but they all need to be thinned to work in an airbrush. As long as you know what the appropriate thinning agent is, it should be fine.

I was thinking even if for use with a brush, exterior latex paint is really thick from the can, and would hide textures and/or fine features of the subject to be painted, unless the paint is thinned before applying. Probably not as thin as if it were to be airbrushed though.

Exterior house paints are designed to be thick to create a tough, long-lasting barrier to weather, sunlight (particularly UV,) and even abrasion from airborne dust, rain and ice, landscaping, etc. Neither of those is an issue in model trains, unless maybe for an outdoor layout.

    Had railroad club meeting tonight.
Scaored some nice additions, to trains, and library!

Was looking at a set of SP GP40-2, DCC equipped.
Was asked if I wanted them, and to take them, if interested!
So, I ended up with a free set of Atlas N Scale SP GP40's!
Also Found 6 more Colorado Rail Annual books, that were being
cleared out of club book library, since they didn't move much, if at all.
Was $90 worth of books, signed an IOU, and got all 6 books for $60 instead.
Lucked out, considering I'm a bit cash strapped at the moment!
    Another good night!

Evemodels arrived from China. $9.99 each, Free shipping and no sales tax, and arrived in 11 days, not bad at all. Haven't opened them yet, but some of these pieces are so tiny. Hope I don't lose any :) Not sure how to paint them either? Might try my paint pens on these? Or at least one of them. Is ABS glue like Gorilla glue? I don't want to stick my fingers together on these tiny parts, really :) I'll take some more pictures when I open them!

Here are the parts from their website!

These decals came in yesterday for the 2 tractor-trailers I'll be modeling after two legendary names that were both founded in my hometown. Also, some recent trailer purchases, matching as close as possible to the prototype photos I'll use as reference. The Atlas trailers are a little bumpy for regular adhesive decals (thin/clear), so I'll use the wheelsets and retracted landing gear to upgrade some ConCor trailers that have less-pronounced rivets. The 40' Fruehauf trailer will be AT, the 40' "Roadway" will become BI, or I may go with another Roadway '45 I have.

It finally all came in. It took a little because I had to wait for the loco's that got the full lighting and sound installations.

I am tempted to get a few more of the locomotives, they are nice and heavy like the P42 Genesis locomotives.
