Welcome back everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. Let's see how we did.

Saturday: I got up, made coffee and quickly packed and finished the lawn then jumped into the car so Ang could drop me off at the airport in Indy. We picked up her dad along the way and the whole time I kept checking my flight status. We arrived at the airport, said our goodbyes and as I walked in to the airport I got a text saying my connecting flight from Baltimore to Manchester had been cancelled. The crew at the full-service desk were of little help so I went through security and then my terminal and talked with an agent. They could get me to Baltimore but not to NH for three days. More looking and no flights were available to Manchester. Frustrated, I asked for a refund and called Ang who came back to pick me up. The rest of the day was spent searching for last minute tickets that were well over $1200.00 dollars with layovers that would stretch the journey to 19 hours. After hours searching My sister-in-law called and said she could take my dad. Thankful but irritated I have vowed to not make the mistake again. My original plan was to leave Illinois early morning in the Mustang and get to NH 16 hours later, but I found these tickets cheaper back in February. I fly enough for work and hate it with all the hassles of waiting, rescheduled flights, wait time in terminals and rude and obnoxious passengers with loud children. I'm more comfortable in my own car than being stuffed in a tin can and waiting hours in terminals.

Sunday: After Saturday's waisted day of driving six hours between the airport and Illinois, I got up, made coffee and started looking at the NTrak module. Ang was meeting friends and I had the house to myself. I was going to work on the module but yesterday's weather in Illinois was so rare, 75 degrees, sunny and very little wind. My good friend called me to ask if I was going to visit the FreeMo set up and I made my mind to ride the Harleys with a friend and his daughter to the event. We both had a great ride there, enjoyed the meet then rode back in time for the girls to be back from their event. Ang and I then went grocery shopping as she was not planning on me being here this week. I then played with the falcon, fired up the grill and had dinner. The night was finished with an early evening ride in the Falcon. Then before we knew it, the weekend evaporated.

So how about you? What did you get done? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday the 26th to start off the Memorial Day weekend. Until then, have a great week, be safe and as always...

Good morning all. I've done very little in the train room the last 11 days. We unfortunately lost our daughter about 11 days ago. A blessing of solace has been her twin brother and our oldest daughter have really stepped up to the plate and been an extreme comfort. They have been going above and beyond in assisting the Mrs and me w/ securing her estate and memorial service planning. I am extremely proud of them.

While I haven't done much, the train room has been somewhat therapeutic as a "brief" escape here and there. Several weeks ago I trashed my old PECO static machine. It had gotten to the point where even new 9V batteries had a hard time getting the grass to stand up. So I got a Woodland Scenics Static King w/ the 12V converter in lieu of using the 9V battery option. Thing works really, really well at 12V. Much better than the PECO. So I have been experimenting a little w/ that. Also, I did a little more work on the east ridge and have almost finished.

    Everyone have an awesome week!

Moose's weekend was mostly "blah", with a touch of "whoops" and a "yippee" twist...

Roughly translated, most did things around the house -- a never-ending process, it seems. Managed to get some touching-up of a few airbrushed models, making the odd mistake here and there, yet one of the models is finally complete sans decals.

@Kitbash Sorry for the loss of your daughter. Losing family is never easy.

Saturday I spent part of the day printing and testing a new version of the enclosure for a new LCC throttle:
    PXL_20230522_125026270.jpg

It's not 100% perfect but it is good enough for testing purposes. I'll be making some adjustments to the PCB based on this round of testing completes since the placement of a few components is less than ideal.

Sunday I took care of some maintenance on our evaporative cooler, the motor has a bearing going out so I tried to relube it to quiet it down a bit while I hunt down a replacement motor.

Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio.

Jim I have been in those situations when I used to travel when working for Harley-Davidson. I always used the Manchester airport rather than Logan when I had to go to the northern side of Boston and we had a direct flight from Cleveland when it was a Continental hub.

@Kitbash sorry to hear of your loss, I hope I never have to bury one of my children before I go.

Friday, I managed to finish painting a pair of boxcars and after stripping the masking tape started on the decals.

Saturday, went to the club in the morning for our monthly business meeting and then ran some trains, we all had a great time. Later I continued decalling then in the evening we celebrated my son’s birthday and Mother’s Day at my nieces restaurant.

Sunday, I did the laundry and we went to choir practice then in the evening I went through my library to find the pictures of a PRR 60’ boxcar so I could apply the correct decals to the car.

    Good morning everyone,

@Kitbash - my condolences on your loss.

My weekend went about as planned. House cleaning on Friday, nice visit with our niece on Saturday, and yard work on Sunday. The only hobby related thing I got done was to get the spare tire replaced on the Ntrak club trailer that I'll be towing to Reno in a couple weeks.

@Kitbash, sorry to hear about your daughter. You and your family have our deepest sympathies and prayers.

Saturday was not as productive as I had hoped. The wife was having breathing issues with attacks coming and going. They were not as bad as earlier in the week. She said these were 2’s ad 3’s on a 10 scale. They were pretty much happening every couple of hours. I was able to tack down the loose carpet strip on the stairs and the corner of the rug in the office with carpet tape. I did some laundry.

I was able to decal the NYO&W Stewart F3B unit and seal it. I also began working on the FTA unit. I finished the nose and one side.

Sunday the wife felt better, and we were able to go out. We went to PetSmart to grab some cat food. Next, we went to a nursey in search of plants for the windows boxes. At the first place we found nothing. We did better at the second place and were able to get some petunias. Once home I mulched the tomatoes plants and the herb garden. I did some more laundry. I had to make a late evening run to the grocery store.

Unfortunately, nothing got done on the layout or workbench.

Thank you for the well wishes for my wife. She is getting there but we are no where near getting out of the woods yet. She has an appointment with the allergist this week and another with the pulmonologist next week.

@Kitbash very sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers for you and your family.

@Tompm good to hear the wife is improving

Our weekend went as planned but it flew by. I'll admit I'm a softy and the high school graduation ceremony really got me more than I thought it would. We had guest all afternoon. I turned the layout on and started a pair of trains running about 2pm and didn't stop them until after 6:30pm. Things ran flawlessly so I was a happy camper. Sunday afternoon I fully expected to be home doing things around the house but we were invited to some friends house for late lunch/early dinner and that consumed a huge chunk of the day.

@Jim Wiggin I feel your pain on the air travel issues. Had stuff like that happen a few times. I love the flying part but I've come to not like dealing with the airport part so I'd just as soon drive when I can. With that said, we are flying tomorrow so hope it will go smooth.

Here's hoping you all have a great week.

That airport experience almost stuck in my throat. :censored: @Kitbash, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. I am proud that the other children are a source of comfort for you. I started working seriously on my model rail efforts in 2015. This was the year my mother passed. I understand about hobby work being a source of relief from sadness. I and others on the forum are with you. Been a little blah around here too. Don't worry. Nothing I have done is 100%. Seems like an opportunity to invite the choir over to practice while laundry is done. (y) Towing a trailer to Reno sounds like a dream come true. Seems like laundry is hindering model RR'g... Oh well. Yep. HS graduation means children not so "children" anymore. :( Locomotive building is under way. Just earlier did a top jacket for the 4-4-0. Getting the last two sets of running gear done for the 2-8-0's. Still a good bit more to do. All have a safe week. :D

Kitbash-I’m very sorry for your loss. Your family will be in our prayers.

As predicted, we spent most of this weekend at the friendship festival, looking at planes and helicopters. I did squeeze a little weathering in, finishing two carbon black hoppers.
