My wife got a picture of the Seibu Lions-wrapped train at Haijima station in western Tokyo today. The Lions are a Japanese baseball team that are close to us here at Yokota Air Base. Last fall I caught a game with one of my daughters. A pretty unique experience-much like a college football game in the US with synchronized cheers and a full band in the stands. Apologies for the lighting-nothing to be done as she there an no platforms beyond that train so she couldn’t shoot it closer and with the sun to her back. But I love that she cares enough to take railfan photos for me when I’m not around! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is the coaling station at Smithville, Texas before the construction of the coaling trestle, sometime about 1910. I guess if you plow into a pile of coal, some of it will end up in the tender. That's a long way to heave a shovel full of coal to fill the tender by hand. No wonder they built a coaling trestle. The MK&T 286 was a Baldwin product of 1892 that was renumbered 317 and scrapped in Parsons in November of 1926. In this image, it sports all the modern equipment of the day. A swing-up pilot coupler, New York air compressor, a turbo generator for electric headlights and cab lighting and an air ringer for the bell. It looks like it will be ready to head out soon. Image made by local Smithville photographer and Katy electrician A. R. Rutan.
The Elgin, Joliet & Eastern purchased the original Baldwin shark demonstrators in 1950, an A-B-B-A set, model DR-4-4-15 (following models were model RF-16). Just five years later they were sold to the B&O, so photos of them in EJ&E livery are rare. The J was a good Baldwin diesel customer, also rostering models DRS-6-6-15, DT-6-6-20, VO-1000 and VO-660.

A train making a wake... As long as he doesn't do his "Ich bin ein Berliner" bit with Grandpa Simpson aboard.
The local crash investigators came to that conclusion after seeing the ruts in the ground right before the level crossing. The locomotive's front suspension and steering gear must be completely shot after that...
Witnesses have now come forward stating the engineer had failed to use his turn signals before the incident. Ha ha ha ha......................
