I found this image of ex CR GP40 that was renumbered and stenciled to DRGW 3179. I appears to be PC green. I also see where it had the Conrail logo painted over or removed for the most part.
My question is, is this image correct, or did it suffer some sort of film development issues that turned the blue to green? I have looked and looked but I have yet to see a PC green CR unit. I prolly wrong. Would like to model this unit.
    Thanks in advance.

I am going to say this is a color shifted photo. In the background the cement has a bit of purple. In the foreground the ballast appears to be green and the rails again seem a bit purple.

Yeah, I'd say the colors off, but if Conrail had gone with PC green, that'd be a wild paint scheme!(y)

Def color shift. Although D&RGW bought some ex-PC GP40s following their 1983 access to Kansas City, they came from Conrail in blue. These units emerged in D&RGW paint that had a distinct orange tone which was more vivid than Aspen Gold. Built as PC 3129 in Aug 1968, to CR 3129, to D&RGW 3179 on 19 Nov 1983, then D&RGW 3141 on 24 Aug 1984. https://www.drgw.net/gallery/DRGW3141 https://www.drgw.net/info/GP40

Now classed as a GP38-2, and active as BNSF 2014: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=5340881

I remember the ex CR units, most were blue, used to call them Smurfs. There also were some that were totally black, with just the white loco # and DRGW under the cabs. I knew it was too good to be true for this one to be PC green. Cant believe the RG bought those worn out Geeps.
Thanks guys for the info and links.

Burnham Shops had lots of capability back then--certainly the mechanical dept folks had a critical eye in checking these out for purchase, and deemed worth the price and repair costs with return on investment.

DRGW must have got them for a cheap price. They bought them way before I got to Burnham. After they were worked over they were OK.
