Thank you Jeff and Loren. And Loren, I have only used one of your trees here, I want to save all I have to my new mainlayout. :) But after this weekend I can continue the work on the layout.

Ain't that something!!! Me too I can't motivate myself to install Loren's tree, I always use my crappy ones on my layout, and always want to save Loren's ones for better use. Like if there could be better things than my layout??? Each time I take them out of their box, and go, naaah! They are just to good looking, and I put them back in their box for better use.

I'm painting up a bunch of Marsilius ACF and PS cars for my NP Lowey Green Train... and spares to fill my passenger yard:

Since I drawbared my F7 ABA Set, I could not fit them in a box, so I made a plywood box, and a cradle to hold the train made from cut-up MTL box inserts. I'm going to paint it in NP Lowey 2 Tone Green later:

With Zedex 2012 fast aproaching I wanted to flesh out the detail on Shasta a bit more. After giving it a good running in turn at Millom Show i made a start on ballasting the yard. Normally in the U.K the sidings at the back are hidden and the scenic front of the layout is all the public see. In effectt it becomes a stage on which a parade of trains are run. You still get the impatient ones looking round the corner to se what is hidden there!

However as Shasta is built to Z-Bend track standards I am going to make it double sided and the yard will become 'Dunsmuir yard' or something like it.

If you've seen the recent video I posted on youtube you will have noticed the big empty green area at the front of the layout. my original plan was to model 'Dunsmuir' on the Shasta Route in North California but the more I sketched it out with the turntable, AC cab forward sheds, ready track for the helpers and the Amtrak depot it became obvious it was going to be huge. So in a change of direction I decided to fill the area with an abandoned, dilapidated Southern Pacific depot. The challange was trying to model an old timber building that has seen better days.

Now, like most of us, I try to make every building I scratch build true and square but in this case I have tried to suggest a struture that is starting to sag a bit. usuing some drawings from railroad model craftsman and a load of photographs I took of the beautifully restored Goleta depot near my folks house I constructed a basic plastic card model but made it a bit wonky.

The plan will be to paint it in the yellow and brown colour scheme and then 'distress' it with weathering and possible some graffitti. The end of the ticket office will be shored up with scaffolding and I'll put some security fencing around it. I think I've worked out a way to put some broken bits of window glass in the frames as well but we'll see.

By the way anybody in the U.K on October the 14th should get along to Zedex. I think we are looking at 18 layouts being in attendence. I'll obviously post a report on here after the show and Rob will probably weant an article for Z-track magazine once I've got it typed up

Here are a couple of pics of the Goleta depot. Not at all wonky! beautifully restored but sadly moved to a park and nowhere near the Coast line now.

Robert, the NP passenger set is fantastic! Kev, great job on the station.

Here is what I have been working on. It is a P&LE GP38. I custom made the decals and did the repaint. It is lightly weathered. The macro is a bit brutal. The actual loco is a bit more subtle that the image. This is my first attempt at a custom locomotive. What a fun project!

I am planning a Monongehela GP38 next. They did run in pairs on occasion.

    Kev,

Yes, Rob Kluz said that AZL would release some undecs, but don't know when. I'll bet a lot of guys will want these undecs. Now if we can just get Hans working faster..........Hear that Hans?

That is great news, Now I don't feel like a lone wolf. CORP also had some SDs that were painted odd colors. Email me at ljsnyder@charter.net and I''ll forward the photos to you.

Don't worry about decals. Got an ALPS printer connection at my disposal and we can go from there when the time comes.

Mine will be wearing Genesee & Wyoming / Ferrocarril Chiapas Mayab paintscheme, such as a free-lanced GP35 I already repainted wearing that paintscheme (no completely free-lanced indeed, as former GP35 run on that railroad as road slugs mated with GP40 in the prototype). Some pics must be scattered here and there in the Z scale section of the forum....

I understand CORP is dear to your heart!
