I believe that's what they call a .22 caliber bullet train.

It is a model of a Japanese commuter that runs between the airport along the coast to the city. Each car is an individual kit that comes two cars to each kit and in sets of A and B consists. Bandai has not produced any mechanisms for these cars for several years now so it was a scramble to find underframes and mechanisms. Luckily Kato made some mechanisms for these cars and actually made the kits for Bandai. I managed to find several underframes for some of the unpowered cars and they have Kato trucks under them. The two power cars have Kato 11-105 power chassis under them. I am also using Kato diaphragms between cars. There were extra parts in kit B to make a different car that had a roof and sides so I made my own ends and created a 5 car which is the middle car.

Well the CabControl effort is stalled. There is a design flaw in the unit software, from my perspective.
There is no way to account for duplicate road numbers. By that I mean, if I have an AMTRAK locomotive Number 127, and there is also a MRL locomotive 127, there is no way to add both to the system. So I emailed ESU about this and I am waiting on the response. Since I model 5 different roads, I have 172 duplicate road numbers, so I am trying to figure some sort of work around. It is not as easy as one might think because I also, being a bit eccentric, took the time to load locomotive images along with the Road Name, ie AMTRAK 127, so the problem is the Genesis settings do not run right on a GP-9, it is way too fast.

Far from being a computer guru could you just start each entry with letter as A127 and then M or MR127.

Got two Atlas SD35's and a Trainmaster which were converted to DCC. When converted they ran fine on DCC. Now they won't run. Lights work but no get up and go. I'm thinking this has to be a contact issue with the motor tabs that stick up. Are they supposed to threaded through the two slots in the decoder chip?

    @Inkaneer

Moose's experience is that the motor tabs do not have be inserted into the slots. It's really a matter of how well you can get the tabs to contact the decoder contacts. The Digitrax decoder installation instructions for a DN163A0 for example, state that the slots are optional.

I thank the Moose! I got other advice to hardwire the contacts by soldering them after threading them through the slots. I may go that route as originally I just relied on the tabs just contacting the decoder pads. My stuff gets moved around alot with Ntrak so something more permanent may be best.

Well two projects finished and ready for the rails. My switcher power for the Port of Friday Harbor along with its transfer caboose and the Dashing Turtle scenic high speed express.

In the back is the current project that is adding a grain and hops unloading facility for the brewery.

In keeping with the small is better theme my little five car speedster in 13.25 inches long making it the largest passenger power on the Turtle Creek other than the Vista Dome scenic cruiser with its full dome cars.

The train features the Turtle Tavern where one can get a sandwich and a libation.

The grain and hops transfer under construction at the brewery complex.

The main building of the brewery. Scratch built from some plans in a Nn3 book of the Virginia Brewery. The building had some unique stone grain storage silos and I added a round stone one to it. The transfer unloading facility will be connected to the two wood elevators next to the brewery by ductwork and chutes to move grain and hops.

If the slots you refer to are on a board type decoder then yes, the tabs from the motor should be threaded through those slots. Here is a photo I took showing this. I often solder them too.

Work bench activity this afternoon was more about tearing something apart. We were throwing out a couple of heated, vibrating chair cushions after the cushions had flattened to the point that they were uncomfortable. I was able to salvage some goodies. The vibrating comes of small 12 volt motors that have off center flywheels on the shaft. I figured out how to get the flywheels off some of them to maybe use in animation projects. Others I left the flywheels on to perhaps make a small shake table to knock the bubbles out of cast resin items. Also got a couple of 12 volt adapters and connectors.

Tomix also makes N scale track with attached roadbed. It is similar to Unitrack, and the Kato adapter for Atlas, et al track was actually designed to mate up between Kato and Tomix track.

More to the point, Tomix has curved turnouts.

Upgraded a Roundhouse gondola with Microtrains trucks and couplers. Have another two box cars to do. They need the mounting holes drilled and tapped.

This afternoon I worked on installing the new decks on my Micro-Trains bulkhead flat cars that I got a few weeks ago. Here is a view of a finished one on the left and a stock one on the right.
