Does anybody make one of these in HO? About a one tonner. Single rear wheels. Sort of a utility vehicle. Wishing I could find one as a flatbed with stake/boards, like I drove back in my early teens- when I worked at the garage in my home town. Would like to have it on my HOn30 layout.
CMW did a early 40s Chevy truck 41-46 I believe, came in many options such as box van and stake bed etc. Fairly common model I believe.
Absolutely correct. I've got several, and they're fairly nice little trucks. They did a stakeside; a tractor to pull a trailer; a beverage truck; maybe a tank truck or two. hobbylinc usually carries a good selection but lately many of their vehicles are out of stock. One of the beverage trucks I turned into a service truck. A couple of photos are attached.
It's a pretty lousy picture, but here's a shot of the '41 Chevy stake-side truck on my layout. It's lettered for Pioneer (seed company).
I remember the '41 Chevy pickup my uncle had. I learned to drive in that. Put it in dual low gear with the hand throttle set for slightly over idle and we could walk faster than it. We did that pulling a sled to pick up rocks in the field.
What I am hoping for is more like a heavy duty pickup truck, which was converted to a stake bed. So it would not have the dual rear wheels.
Not a chevy, but CMW was dumping their Ford F-250 (early 1950's) that was set up to be a hi railer. They were 9.95 each. They don't have dual rear wheels, so they would be perfect for your heavy pickup. I converted two of them to flatbeds. The flatbed is easy to make. They come lettered for a railroad, but the lettering comes off easily with easy lift off. One serves my cotton gin and the other is at the lumber store. Photos attached.
CMW is now part of Round2. Although Round2 generally advertises them separately from their other offerings, which include 1/64, 1/24 and 1/18 scale diecast vehicles as well as many of the car kits you might remember building as a kid, they're still around. Current offerings are a late 70's Chevy stepside, midfifties Chevrolet trucks and a re-release of their 67 Ford 4 door. Their 41-46 Chevy trucks are still easy to find on ebay. I just looked and found a large selection. Maybe use the wheels off their 54 Ford 1 ton pickup?
Nice photo and well done scene. That little Brownhoist crane is something that's close to home for me. The prototype was made in Bay City, Michigan. The plant still stood until a few years ago.
