We, the Vero Beach Model Railroaders, displayed our 4x8 traveling O gauge layout at the TCA show in Orlando in November. The dealer with a table right across from our layout had these 3 FEC cars on his table. I made an offer, the dealer accepted, so the cars came home with me. I am a lifelong New York Central fan and most of my trains are NYC, but the FEC in the contemporary era is my second railroad so I couldn't resist adding these cars. All 3 cars are MTH. The gondola and boxcar are Premier models while the reefer is a Railking model. Premier models are scale size while Railking models are mostly semi-scale. Some Railking models are full scale size, most are close to scale size and some are compressed enough so that they can negotiate O31 curves. 3 rail O gauge curves are measured in diameter so O31 track forms a 31" diameter circle. The boxcar The gondola came with the scrap load The Railking reefer This is a month and a half late because I thought I had posted this but at the time of the show.
I did a little research and MTH included the scrap load with the car. I agree, it's way cool and makes the gondola much more interesting as it rolls around the layout or sits on a siding.
NOTE: THE PURPOSE OF THIS POST IS TO SHOW MY NEW LOCOMOTIVE. IT ISN'T MEANT TO TAKE ANY MEMBERS FROM TRAINBOARD. This MTH Premier ES44 was delivered last night. I'll load it into my DCS remotes and take it for a test drive today. I am a founding member of the O-Gaugeforum.com which is a not for profit O gauge forum. We also have made a caboose and a couple of freight cars. This is the engine and caboose. That's it for now.
Yesterday evening I went to CVS to pick up a prescription and found this 1/48 scale UPS delivery van in the die cast autos rack. I placed it in front of this duplex from Menards. The duplex came with figures. One of them is the delivery guy dressed in brown. Looks like a UPS driver to me so it was the perfect place to locate the van.
Every time I go to CVS I take a look at the die cast cars display. Usually there’s nothing special but this time I got lucky.
Never overlook places like that. That's a good looking UPS truck. About 20 years ago, I collected a whole bunch of HO scale vehicles from Motormax (Fresh Cherries) and Reel Rides discovered as a result of a stop at Walmart. I kept going back until I'd collected all of them (except the Porsche. Not many follks around here drive those. On the other hand, I think I bought five of the Chevy pickups. The price was right) I've never seen any HO vehicles there since, but I always look just in case.
You can find good stuff at Walmart. I often check out the toy section for O scale details. I found this Batman and Batmobile there a while ago. I don't know the scale but it looks right when placed near other O scale vehicles and details.
Batman is ready to thwart whatever evil plan the Riddler has in mind. Meanwhile Batgirl is keeping an eye on the Cat Woman and Poison Ivy. She will prevent them from doing whatever wicked deed they have cooked up. These are from the city on my layout. Oh look, a New York Central passenger train is pulling into the station.
