Bought this lovely cabover. Need to source some stainless mirrors though.

My H-12-44 arrived, and I couldn't be happier.

Most of the Minitrix locomotives I've seen have lots of scale miles under their belts, with lots of wear and tear. I'm not sure this one had ever even been out of the box. Everything is squeaky clean, the wheels and traction tires are in perfect condition, the headlight works, and it absolutely purrs along with no need to re-grease. Even the shell details are surprisingly nice. If it wasn't for the foot-thick handrails and truck-mounted Rapidos, I'd never suspect it's as old as it is. A few adjustments and it'll be up to par for a modern layout.

Yep, Minitrix made high quality locomotives and I'm sure you'll enjoy yours. (y) I bought an H-12-44 in the early 1970s and it still runs fine today. I converted mine to M-T couplers some 30 years ago, but I can't recall what conversion kit I chose. M-T shows these three will work, but you'll want to do some research before picking one if you plan to do a conversion.

    1049 (001 30 003) Locomotive Conversion, some sites show H-12-44, U30CG and U-28
    1104 (001 30 009) Locomotive Conversion, some sites show U30CG and U-28 only
    1128 (001 30 012) Universal Conversion

I think I used an 1128 set on my F9 of similar vintage, I'll have to see what the LHS has. Eventually I'd like to convert the H-12 to a full pilot and body-mount couplers, but I want to pull at least one train with it before I start hacking it up

I bought a couple of these as they were close to H-10-44's which UP had (didn't have any H-12-44's). Then I found a better shell that is a H-10-44 and put it on....

.... an Atlas chassis with a DCC decoder ( HERE ). Was going to get rid of the H-12-44's but then put .....

... a decoder in one of them ( HERE ) and kind of feel in love with the little guy. I....

... put some guitar string hand rails on (not a great job) (HERE ) and ....

... also turned the wheels down ( HERE ) that made it run better on my code 55 track. It isn't up to my later locos but run's nice for a '70's loco and maybe if I spent a little more time with it might run better yet.

Nice loco that grew on me, have fun with yours,

I've got some of those H10-44's from a Shapeways vendor. DRGW had three of them #150 to #152. Can't remember if the VO1000 powered chassis is used. Haven't put them together because some of prints were not well run... cracks, rough finishes... needing extra TLC.
I have VO660 prints with same issues.

I went with the TCS decoder in the VO1000 chassis I used for the Fm H-10-44 I showed above but went with....

... a less expensive Digitrax decoder in another chassis that I put a FM H-20-44 shell on ( HERE ). As I noted in the picture above I didn't try the original shell back on so not sure of the fit with it. If I did this again I would use the smaller Digitrax DZ126T or now my favorite for a couple dollars more ESU LokPilot 5 Micro DCC decoder.

The ones I did do, shown in this and the last post, run fine as is,

It took a while to get the bad taste of IM locomotives out of my mouth and my mind.

Did a little bit of retail therapy, I just ordered the whole NYC train set and locomotives, and added to that were two more Amtrak 50th Anniversary locomotives.

    Pictures when they arrive.

I'm guessing the Twentieth Century Limited by Kato... right?

LOL on the IM locos. Putting them in your mouth will always leave a bad taste. Specially if they have the 'Zinc-pest' disease.

Here are 2 shots of a "find" (modeler completely getting out of the hobby). This IM, N scale AC-12, 2016 version three release is very nice:

This has ESU Loksound Select Direct Micro decoder, speaker size (?), crew in cab with very dim cab light, and tender backup light. Has very small run time on her.

Watch it carefully Carl, both of mine from that same timeframe had disintegrating frames.

I HAD to buy a 10-pack of MTL brown bettendorf trucks/couplers for all the cars I've been buying that had Rapido couplers.

When will it end...? when will it end...?

    Uh...ohhh!!!
Hmmm... I have AC-8's, AC-10's, AC-11's and AC-12's. I have not looked them over carefully. I've only ran the AC-12 #4294 from their first issue many years ago... GULP!

After the show last weekend I noticed our free-moN group is a bit heavy on the yellow. So after seeing all the UP stuff running I decided it was time for a splash of color. Here is my splash. Milwaukee!

More styrene (at this rate I should just buy the entire Evergreen display rack ), and some Unitrack bumpers to make my display shelf track look a little nicer.
