Have you tested to connect the wifi shield to another serial port on the Mega?

Hard to tell without actually being there but....

    1. Have you gone through the physical install step by step again ( HERE )?

    2. Have you run the installer again ( HERE )?

    3. Are you setting it up in 'Station Mode' or 'Access Point'? From what you have posted before I think you would use 'Access Point' as you don't want to connect to the house WiFi but want it to run alone. Is that right?

    4. If all of that is correct you should be able to go to your phone and 'Net and Internet' settings and see the house WiFi and the DCCEX_XXXX WiFi access point as shown ( HERE ).

5 .If you haven't found a problem to this point and still now WiFi I'd open a ticket on Discord ( HERE ).

Good luck and I've been down this road over the years and usually it is just a small mistake somewhere. I wouldn't assume that any of those steps don't have a problem but start at square one and run through them again. Doesn't take that long.

Computers are great but they love to have all their ducks in a row or things don't go according to plan.

sumner i went to the discord site but i can not figger out how to post anything in there , i was in there for an hour trying to find a way to post..that place is gooofy... i have done all the steps and no wifi... im about to give up at this point . i have one working unit and thats all i need two more set up...
ive done the auto installer and nothing,,, ive done the manual install and nothing ,,,,there is something missing but i dont know what... with the auto installer it should have installed and worked. but thats not the case here. i know that dcc++ex is installed because i can run trains through jmri i just can not get that makerfabs wifi to turn on. i have two more of these to install....on my working unit i dont know how to copy all of it over to the new boards because it works great.......ill go back to your (here's) and double check although ive checked about 20 times already. i know its something with the wifi part it just wont go....when i load up the arduino the wifi board blinks its perty blue lights then nothing
    thanks

Glad you got things up. So far items I've ordered direct from over there have worked fine but I have some that I've never tested so who knows. If you find the time drop me a PM as to who the seller is so I can put them on ................
    ..................... also.

Probably 90% or more of what is going on there is over my head but they always are quick to help, usually in terms one can understand. Go to 'open-a-ticket' under 'Support' on the left side of the screen. It is the second category there. Hopefully you won't need it.

Glad you stuck with it and found the answer/solution on your own.

Thanks ya what a pain trying to figger that out. as far as seller the makerfab was from makerfabs i sent them an email hopefully i can get a replacement. i dont know what happened with that board . i just took it out of its box and installed and nothing but blue lights flickered. On the motor board when i opened up the package the diodes fell out, they weren't ever soldered in. sent them an email too... they prob wont do nothing about that. but who knows.....i hope they make good cause ive ordered quite a few parts from them. so now ive got three command stations up and running one is my main layout and one is for the test track and one is a spare (why do i need a spare ) maybe for a train out in the shed ????:D
