Anyone ever bought any Osborn models? Specifically the C-172, DHC-2 Beaver, or the Piper Cub, and the Picnic tables. My other hobby is flight simulation and I have some 3D printed aircraft from a friend but they did not print very well and are a pain to paint. Looking for something that I think is more to N Scale. Also just noticed they come with decals for some of the detail. If no one has I guess I'll try one or a few first Thanks!
I've only built the picnic tables of theirs but they are very nicely done. Time to move up from flight sim and into some RC aircraft
Here is my Beaver float plane by Osborn. 100_1866-2 by John Moore posted Jun 27, 2022 at 7:04 PM A very nice kit but one needs patience and just a little skill. I used Elmer's white glue for the wood parts.
Thank you. It took me about three days to finish this model allowing time for the Elmer's to set up and some gentle sanding and then time for the primer to dry. The floats were the only spot of trouble just because of their delicate nature. It is lettered for the San Juan Washington air service.
Been there done that years ago, I am good sitting in an air conditioned room, pretending Plus when you crash these you just restart the simulator You have pictures of the Picnic Tables to share?
Occasionally I lose a plane but it keeps me alert when they are in the air. Lot's of good guys at the field where I fly so there and an excuse to spend time with my sons. My 16yo son is a timid flier where I am more aggressive but he is the most consistent at the field for greasing landings. He hates losing planes too I don't have any good pics and lighting is terrible down here in the basement till tomorrow in the AM. I'll snap and post then.
Picnic tables and the cub are good . Have just bought the lobster boat , which I believe will look fabulous.
Some nice lookin additions for the layout. 'Buns on Wheels'. Mine have been there for some time. Still are, only electric power now.
I worked in aviation for 25 years. At one point I took flying lessons until I took a management position that didn't allow me enough time to finish. The hardest part? Watching my instructor kiss the the ground and wipe the tears from his eyes after every flight. One of my favorite planes was the de Havilland Beaver "Best in the Bush". We would have them coming in from Canada on the way to be rebuilt by a company in Florida and then see them again on the return home. Ralph
Alright picnic tables for sure now, and the fencing, and the aircraft's too. Where did you get the Buns On Wheels? I have the WS Ice Cream truck. They look really cool next to each other. I am planning on going to the local hobby shop to see if the have any of these kits. I am not holding my breath though as I doubt it, but you never know! If not I'll order them all online!
That N Scale? And amazing work, can we have more pictures please from different angles? How in the world did you make it look that good? Very nice indeed! Where you get the decals from, if they are decals? Found the L4 Grasshopper decals for it. Still would like to see more photos if you can
Love the 'Gotta get me one of those!' attitude. Model railroading...in any scale...is addictive for sure... .
Buns on Wheels is an oxford diecast model. I don't recall where I got it but it was online and a few years back.
So apparently the Osborn aircraft are about the size of a dime? Also looks they are layers of wood too at least for the fuselage? And I just watched a YT video of someone putting together the N Scale picnic tables, also very, very, very tiny Good thing I have the magnifying glasses N Scale Guard Rails & Picnic Tables
Yes the kit is made up of wood components that have to be laminated in layers. I do not recommend using ACC but simple Elmers all purpose white glue. Gives you time to position the parts being laminated whereas ACC sets to fast. The Beaver is a larger plane than the Piper in real life and is to scale shown here with a quarter. 100_1873-1 by John Moore posted Jun 30, 2022 at 5:47 AM Both planes can be built with either floats or wheels. I used part their decals and part mine to create my version. 100_1874-2 by John Moore posted Jun 30, 2022 at 5:47 AM I used a sealer on the wood before painting. Years ago there were a bunch of 1/144 scale plane kit made of plastic. I carefully cut some down to 1/160 to make a few more float planes. 100_1875-3 by John Moore posted Jun 30, 2022 at 6:12 AM
