Here is my Casey Jones steamer pulling it's consist.

 

This little switcher runs but is a rubber band drive and does not run to well - it is jerky. At one time you could buy a kit to replace the rubber band drive and make it a direct drive. Don't think you can get those anymore.

 

Ah, the Athearn "Hustler".

BTW, your "Casey Jones" 4-6-0, above, was made by Liliput in Austria. I have the same loco, Lettered for the Pennsy and in its original Liliput box. My late older brother got it as a gift in the early sixties.

My AHM Great Northern Engine

 

This is the only Lionel engine that I have. It runs ok but not as good as my Athearn engines.

 

One of my old Tyco units. These units run ok but I am not a fan of the pancake motors. To me, they are not easy to work on.

 

Tyco made a lot of junk but never an FM C-Liner model, that is an AHM C-Liner, again another poor running model, the later Life Like models put it to shame. I got rid of mine at a garage sale after getting my Life Like units.

You are correct sir. I went look at it again -- my bad, I thought it was a Tyco unit.

 

An Athearn SOO Line locomotive.

 

Bet it sounds like a coffee grinder. Cox had some identical ones back in the 70s, made by Athearn. A similar GP35 was among my 1974 Christmas presents. The grand opening:



A couple of years ago I found an identical one for my nostalgia fleet.

Man, I had a lot of hair...

 

This locomotive does not run so I was going to use it as an attraction in a park but the flood came and that idea went out with the tide.

 

I wanted to show this M K T shell and frame that I acquired a few years ago. It is a GP7, I think, shell and I often trade with the SP shell on that GP frame. One day I will find the running gear for this shell & frame.

 

It's a GP7, for sure. Looks like Athearn.

I like the way its weathered and worn. It looks like it works hard to earn its keep.

 

I bought this Athearn Southern Pacific GP7 locomotive in 1967 when I was just getting started in HO. To this day, it still runs great.

 

I have this Tyco Locomotive I think I got from The Salvation Army. Maybe $1. It is older than dirt but runs fairly well and it is heavy.

That would be Missouri Pacific. Though 1011 was in a number range assigned to RS-3s. However, UP - which eventually gobbled up MoPac - had D.S.1011 which was a very similar switcher with different spark arrestors. Interesting!
