Nice! As was already said, just the right amount of algae for something that would be more or less stagnant. That canal is going to be great.
Yes the algae looks a lot like where the Fox River canal and Neenah Slough canal dump into the Little Butte des Morts. As viewed from the US441/10 bridge.
I haven't done the pour yet. What am I afraid of? Doing something that will ruin my canal? I'll get over it.
Candy, No need to be hesitant in making a pour. IMHO, you have the best in the Envirotex and you are an extremely talented and smart modeler, so I am sure you have read the instructions. However, I want to share, from personal experience, some thoughts. Mix only enough to make a pour of 1/8 inch and make 2 or 3 pours to get the level you want in the canal. Make sure your canal is water tight, pun intended, or the Envirotex will be all over your floor or table top. Let each pour set up before making another one. By doing more than 1 pour you can place "detail floaties" at different depths. Do not over agitate the two resins when you mix them as you do not want a lot of bubbles. Once I poured I use a soda straw to blow over the bubbles to dissipate them. You are such an artist I feel foolish mentioning these things to you. Have fun, this detail is well worth the effort.
Well if someone with her talent is afraid, think how most of us feel, that is me, when we do something like this I can't wait to see it after the first pour. It's gonna be awesome I bet.
I'm going to vacuum the canal and touch up a few places then I will do my pour. It will be alright. On my color test jig every space came out well. And the bubbles were easy to get rid of. So, everything will be okay.
C'mon Candy, Photos please. You can't keep us ancient ones in suspense. Our hearts might not survive. LOL
Not much natural light in the room this morning and every time I try to take pictures by holding a lamp nearby, I get a wicked refection from the water. I'm going to try again a little later on. I'm hoping there will be more natural light. But here are two that look okay.
