Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend. Lets get started.

Saturday: The show was busy and a success. Saw a lot of neat layouts and had a good time being at a show again.

Sunday: Crowd was down slightly but we still enjoyed being at the show. I cleaned out N Scale Supply of all their N scale code 40 track form my shadowbox layout and future projects and visited with the folks of Nebraska FreeMo N a bit. Before we knew it, we were taking down the booth and calling it an evening. Now for the 14 hour trip back to Illinois.

So how about you? How was your weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday the 8th to do it all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Had a good weekend working on the layout. The river banks got some scenery and the river got a base coat of black acrylic.

A concrete trestle got built using some hard board as a core then adding styrene around that. The bents are made from a RIX Products bridge kit.

And a pair of tunnel portals got painted.

Saturday, for the first time in over two years of forced train-show sobriety, I fell off the wagon.

The Salon du Hobby (formerly Expo-Train Modelisme) was back in town. I was in line close to the entrance, so I could see the shiny and colorful trains beckoning me in, like sirens in an ancient myth.

    Enough poetic yabba-yabba... :cautious:

I bought a custom-painted Atlas GP7 (CN 4806) and two C&S (red) hopper cars. Also, a coat hook with a back plate shaped like a steam loco, a small steam loco toy with a tiny clock in it, and a small outbuilding and some shingle roofing material. To cap it all off, the 2022 edition of the Canadian Trackside Guide - latest I had was from 2019.

Best thing was to get out and see some real people that I have a connection with - trains - and shooting the breeze with some of the vendors.

Yesterday, I replaced the horn-hook couplers on the hoppers for some Kadees.

I've had my fix until the next one.:)

Friday: Settled on a design for an updated and enlarged elevated town in a corner of the layout and started making a new base for it out of foam board.

Saturday: Experimented with different design concepts for a large warehouse and a brewery in the railway yard. Researched railway foot bridges, elevated road and railway support structures and other 1930s period structures designs for ideas that might influence how the town and railway yard should look.

Sunday: Took a long drive with Mrs Moose which included a visit to a train museum.

Oddly, didn't partake in the consumption of beer all weekend, despite having poured through a lot of images of beer breweries...

Oh oh, if this thread is here then another weekend has passed.
Well, I got done, tons and tons of zero.
Help grandson number one with homework for several hours on Saturday and took a long long walk by myself on Sunday.
    Maybe next week.

Much the same except on Sunday I went grocery shopping, unloaded and turned around to get the two items I forgot. Eggs and bread.
Otherwise had a laid back time with some long slow walks.

The WC Waukesha sub switching layout is almost finished after this long weekend (for me anyway…I was burning up days before I lose them at the end of the fiscal year) It’s certainly good enough to run operations.

I finished weathering about 50 intermodal containers.

    On the switching shelf:
The remaining track was ballasted, and extra containers were put along the back drop in a couple of places for fun.

The grain elevator was disassembled, repainted, reassembled, reweathered and I added lighting, safety railing, and a guy leaning on the railing.

LEDs were added to the grain elevator office, the freight house, the storage shed, and the engine shed. Additional details-people, pallets and other freight details added to the loading docks along where appropriate.

Of note, I was fortunate to acquire a few items from Jim Reising’s estate. The BNSF Geep was one on them, making a guest appearance on the WC sub this week. He was a really skilled modeler and I wanted to make sure he received credit for the loco with all the aftermarket details, including operating ditch lights.

Lastly, I did a little prep for interior lighting for the auto body shop and the printing plant. But not done yet.

There are a couple areas of light bleed I need to address, but happy so far.

On the oval loop layout beneath the shelf:
the cement company was disassembled, repainted, reassembled, and reweathered. All containers in the intermodal yard were reorganized.

Next weekend? Maybe work on some rolling stock. I’m got some hoppers I want to do.

    Good mornin to Y'all

I worked on a couple of SP style train order boards. They are just about ready for installation. A bit of paint touch up.

Yesterday, I cleaned the main line and ran a couple of trains, while listening to Stonewall Jackson. Nice and relaxing.

    Y'all have a great week,
    Wolf

Friday: As planned, I did try to do some debugging of my JMRI setup, but although I learned a few more things about JMRI, I still can't get the computer to read from the decoder.

Saturday: Our expected visit from our 12 y.o. niece was first postponed from Friday to Saturday, and then cancelled altogether when she decided that staying with her grandparents sounded like a better option.

We did, however, unload about half our box trailer into our garage, and help a friend move. We had expected to be there for an hour or two, but that turned into four (+). Our friend lives in a retirement village and was moving from a house to an apartment so she was donating some of her excess to her friends and to our church mission in the Kentucky mountains. We decided to keep a few things and called our son-in-law to pick up a few as well. While we waited for him we went to the village's restaurant for lunch then took some salted caramel ice cream to share with my mom (who also lives there). That evening we didn't feel like doing much of anything else.

Sunday: Of course started with an early 0530 wake up, church, then off to the train club for our monthly meeting. We finally have collected all the required paperwork to change signatories for our bank accounts so I'll head to the bank this week and try to get that sorted. After making my financial report there, collecting dues, etc. I headed home to attend the Zoom meeting for our Liberia mission board. Nothing much else was accomplished (by me) the rest of the day.

Today will be busy all day with work, a trip to the dentist, the bank, back to work, then dinner, then another church meeting in the evening. And the next two weeks promise to be busy as we make preparations for Holy week, Easter, and our subsequent vacation.

I hope all of you have a productive, safe, and healthy week.

Weekend went as planned with the last night of bowling and then working at the City bowling tournament. I did manage to paint the 57’ reefer and started on a 2893cf covered hopper.

Another weekend that seemed to just fly by. Picked up some magazines as planned Friday afternoon. Saturday, I got the broken fence picket and the smoke detectors changed out. Went faster than I even thought it might and even managed not to electrocute myself in the process :D Finished cleaning up the jewel cases and they are ready for use now. Next up was fire up the grill and cook some pork chops. After that, I wasted the rest of the day reading and watching some TV. Sunday, my knee was bothering me so never made it to the layout.

Hope you all have a great week!!!!

Ha ha ha. Rats. No modeling. I got into an email exchange with a former MILW Road employee friend. He is a hydroplane racing fan, as I am. So I ended up digging through my collection of such memorabilia. Nice. Some great times recalled. So even though no modeling, still had some hours of great fun.

Some nice work above for the weekend. Awesome stuff.

This weekend went nothing like planned. Modeling time went down the drain. I did spend some time on loco railings and realized the special primer I put on the "derlin" handrails flaked. So I am back to more experimenting w/ special primers. I'll probably try priming them again with automotive "special adhesion" primer.

Also got out the HM Meyers building and began assessing what to do next. Got it on my work bench. Then I got diverted here and there with other things. All in all it was a great weekend, just turned out modeling had to sit on the back burner Saturday and Sunday.

    Have a great week all!!!

I did some work along the banks of the Housatonic River in the New Milford section of my layout last evening. These are the initial layers of scenery. There is more to go and I will airbrush some areas to deepen the color or highlight areas that need it, to tie it all together at the end. I will need lots of Super Trees eventually, but for now, my re-worked, cheap Ebay Chinees trees will have to suffice.

I attended our local NMRA Spring Meet Saturday, and it was great to see the guys again. First time I attended since Spring 2019, and I missed the fall 2019 meet because I was camping, then Covid shut it all down till now.

There were about 25 guys, and I was the youngest again. After I got into the hobby, it seams like the doors shut and nobody younger got into model railroading. The quality of the models displayed were excellent, and there was lots of Z Scale entered. One of the other Z Scalers, Clyde Queen, Jr., gave me a copy of the latest issue of Ztrack Magazine, which has an excellent article on his home layout.

I won best in 2 categories, and had 2 other models judged for AP points, working towards my certificates. It was fun, but also an eye opener that this hobby is aging very fast. I foresee the hobby will have half as many people in 20 years due to natural attrition.

Awesome water. What product did you use for the water?? Looks great. I will be pouring some in the not-too-distant future and have been looking at different products. Bravo on the overall scene.

Yesterday I had a quiet birthday. Just relaxed around the house. My daughter treated us to Texas Roadhouse takeout for dinner. I am still feeling full from it now.

I worked on the layout. I finished running the roadbed for the outside and inside track. Now all the layout has roadbed. I still need to do some of the third track once I figure out what I am doing with a couple of industries. I need to finish the roadbed in order to do the electrical feeds. I added another to the inside track and connected it to the bus wire. One more and that will complete the first block.
