Does Kato make an N Scale Unitrack low level platform to fit between two tracks with a No. 6 switch at each end, as in a passing siding? Additionally, I'm confused whether there's a 48mm or 49.5mm track centerline separation with a No. 6 at each end. It looks like my track results in 48mm, but I'm not certain. The first leg of the ladder, with a left/right combo, results in the 49.5mm spacing, additional #6 rights along the ladder will be 48mm. This is due to the S of the left/right combo of two diverging legs. All the other legs are simply a diverging 718mm radius curve. If you only have a single siding switch at each end, it is still 49.5mm, due to the S.
This is a simplified version of the track layout on my railroad. Per your description, would my track centerline spacing be 49.5mm here? Thanks again.
Thank you @RBrodzinsky . I'm overly fastidious with my Unitrack track laying, making good use of Kato's 33mm track spacing tool where needed. With your response in mind, I made my own 49.5mm track spacing tool from a Popsicle stick and very careful measuring. Painted the ends Kato Blue so as to make it easier to find amongst the rubble piled up on the train table.
Yeah, understood. When I was laying track on my new FreeMoN yard (still not finished - been a year since worked on it), I printed a bunch of track spacers to keep 3 tracks at 1.125" spacing. You can see them across the tracks here.
That's my kind of track engineering for sure! That's such a cool idea to 3D print spacers. I figure the best operating reliability will be achieved with as few twists and misalignments as possible, plus it looks nice.
