Good morning from cold, freezing rain and sleetly Northwest Ohio! I got a little work done this week. First up is an Atlas International Caboose kit, that closely resembles a C31 N&W caboose, which is what I painted it for, using Scalecoat II ATSF Red, and Matte Black paints with a little silver for the smokestack. Car was then lettered with Herald King Decals. Next, another Atlas kit of a Evans Blue Island Reefer, so named as they were built at Evans Blue Island, IL facility. Evans made about 4,400 of these cars in the 1970's, some to railroads and many on short and long term leases to users. This was one of their demonstrator and or short term lease paint scemes. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Wabash Blue, Silver and Matte Black paints then lettered with Herald King Decals. For my club picture this week, went back in the archives for a pair of ex-Illinois Terminal SD39's with a mixed freight on the Strongsville Club layout. Thanks for looking, and keep up with more great pictures this weekend! Rick Jesionowski
It is transition time at Leiperville Union Station. B&O EA and EB (Broadway Limited) arrive slightly ahead of B&O 4-6-2 Pacific (IHC).
Actually compressed helium is heavier than air, therefore the cars when filled with helium are heavier than if not filled with helium. By the way these cars were extremely heavy and required special trucks with double brake hangers in order to stop them. Rick Jesionowski
Right to Left White / Black tank car / Lead end of local Yellow 'Milwaukee Road' covered hopper. Purchased in the name of 'Milly', a good friend. A series of cardstock buildings. Not sure what I will be doing with them. In front of them are 'Sasquatch and Headless Horseman' from Miniprints.com, (3D printing). (don't judge them by my painting). I am very pleased with their work. Tall black cylindar is a blue tooth speaker. I have recorded train sounds on my phone and can play them back via the speaker which will be obscured in a building or behind a hill. Other end of the train and the Kato Steeple Cab Not visible are a pair of Atlas 4 axil locos. Edit: I in no way am associated with miniprints.com save only that I am very pleased with their product. I just placed my 3rd order. ☻ Edit: Deleted the prototype snowy pic. sorry about that.
@SecretWeapon Yes! Great to see you! I hope all is good. I reallly liked all of the posts. I mean really really.
The newly purchased BLMA Billboard as CSX #5407 rolls past pulling CSX containers in the background, and young couples park underneath the billboard for some reason Let's see, exactly why would they be parked there... Yeah the billboard is a little crooked. I'll send a crew out in the future to fix that. It was just installed, maybe the concrete footing has not cured completely?
^ From one C&O layout to another. Coal empties heading west through Albemarle City, passing tank train sitting in east bound siding. Had a track cleaning session last night and this AM and had to run some trains today.
That’s beautiful. That open factory window in the background is one of those perfect little details that make things feel real (for me at least). Well done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
