In a related story, no one bid on a recent lot of three Atlas turnouts, on which only the boxes were shown in a photo. The starting point was reasonable, but what if they were empty boxes?
Postage has become a four letter word... However, there is no way I am paying $10 shipping on a $5 car. Or a $5 anything for that matter. I am also debating whether to zing a seller from whom I purchased two reasonably priced cars, only to find that "combined shipping has been disabled by the seller-- please proceed to checkout." So I paid $9 to ship two cars that do not include boxes.
All - With my earlier posting here about this item N SCALE / SOUTHERN PACIFIC / DIESEL #9263 / PLASTIC / PARTS / RESTORE Used | eBay I think the seller realized that he should have had asked to Calculate the Postage ..shipping. , possibly someone sent him a pm about calcu. postage. I am going to give the benefit of the doubt that someone Private Messaged him. Because I now see. >Shipping and handling : aka p & h. of $9.85 Tom
All- To me it looks as if the wheels on both the BACHMANN 0-6-0 and the 4-6-0 have not been Cleaned in a while! N Scale Lot Bachmann for Parts or Repair | eBay please see photos 3 and 8. Tom
I received a eBay item from Prescott Hobbies in AZ last week and it was the Coverall Paint factory by Model Power. They used no peanuts or bubble wrap and the factory to my shock got jostled around and broken (Model Power SUPER GLUES them in) - they are making good on the issue so I'm not bashing the hobby store but I'm kind of shocked they thought this would survive transit. The lighter the box the more USPS throws it around like a beach ball thinking it's not breakable. I was shocked it got removed from the base cardboard because I bought the Model Power Shell station (TM) and that thing was Gorilla Glued to the packaging - I couldn't believe anyone would think that was a good idea. I am German and have a lot German Engineering pride but this was embarrassing. I finally thought of using a hair dryer and that got the glue tacky so I could remove it. What happened to good old twist ties? 2nd story - I started bidding on this hotel and I thought it could be had for about $100. WRONG. OMG. I might have to get into painting structures as a side hustle. TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY FIVE dollars for one building. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175135533477?hash=item28c6e429a5:g:BBwAAOSwJd9h9uE2 :-0
That's an enduring kit and it brings me a smile each time I see one. This is mine, received as a Christmas gift in 1970 when I was a kid. Looks like I used a bendy straw as a duct along the lower roofline. Enjoy your build!
That's awesome. I didn't realize this was that old. I'm thinking of doing the windows in a powder blue to match the Lowenbrau bottle and leaving some gold/yellow accents.
The Pola/Atlas/Model Power/lots of others "Foundry" / "Factory" / other names kit is an oldie but goodie.
Is "preowned" a sufficiently positive attribute of an item to deserve capitalization and an exclamation point, i.e. =, "Preowned!" Asking for a friend.
Mine was the Atlas "Factory", Item 2882-300, seen here being built on the day after Christmas. It came with an "Oceanic" sign. The suffix 300 might have meant an MSRP of $3.00.
I was at a local toy show as an exhibitor with the Railroad Museum of Minot and their N scale layout, and saw vendor selling exactly this. They were Atlas turnout boxes, probably form the 80s, but were marked clearly empty, and the guy wanted 5 bucks each for them!
I remember when the XBox originally came out, someone listed the XBox BOX on that auction site for sale (just the box it came in). Two buyers who, I assume, didn't read the description bid it up to over $700. I'm sure the 'winner' was surprised when he got his XBox box.
All, Here we go again. Minitrix N Scale Santa Fe SD-45 #5623 | eBay This one appears to have a homemade Fuel tank and possibly someone used The Late Jim Fitzgerald's article .. please see photo 5. This is the fourth time I have seen a1g-ATLAS First Generation, Mehano made Locomotives for ATLAS and MP Model Power aka Mehano being Passed Off as MINITRIX. Tom
You are correct! The last three digits were the retail price at that time. Would that this were still true! Although I suppose some would move the decimal point and say that's $300, not $3.00! Wait, maybe I shouldn't put that out there...
