Seller appears to be in Italy. I cannot believe this is anything other than a BIG currency miscalculation. For that much USD, I can get at least five if them from a TrainBoard advertiser!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/152366947360?hash=item2379c71c20:g:ZjgAAOSw44BYXODK Doesn't look that bad until you see the shipping! Do they fly it over from Japan in a chartered jet?
I think that too might be a currency conversion. 5,200 Yen is about $45. Still a little high but "Expedited Shipping" could be Global Priority. What I don't understand is if there's a currency conversion mistake in the shipping, why not also on the selling price. I haven't sold on eBay in a LONG time so I don't remember if there are separate parameters for currency conversion for the selling price and shipping charges.
https://www.ebay.com/sch/Model-Rail...1&_dcat=180250&rt=nc&LH_AllListings=1&Gauge=N Seems a bit steep for Rivarossi Passenger Car Roofs at $10 per roof.
All- Have to Love this one! N Scale Train Locomotives | eBay , Please see condition plus this >I will not ship outside the 48 contiguous US States. There may be Modelrailroaders in AK and HI which Looked at this item then saw this statement >I will not ship outside the 48 contiguous US States<. Wow. This seller seems to be limiting himself . Tom
All - Again with the Cab Roofless Locomotives, seriously. N SCALE / SOUTHERN PACIFIC / DIESEL #9263 / PLASTIC / PARTS / RESTORE Used | eBay, I believe they're becoming useless items like the RD'S -READERS DIGEST Loco's , Freight Cars and the ever elusive DP -Locomotives. And this seller want the Purchaser to Calculate the Postage ..shipping. Wow! Tom
Also, aren't APO and FPO addresses treated the same as shipping within the USA? The seller is missing a bit of potential there as well.
I’m stationed in Japan and have an APO. It’s the same as shipping anywhere else in the US-the cost is about the same as shipping to zip codes in California. A lot of companies and people selling on eBay or other places don’t understand what an APO is, don’t want to risk a poor rating because shipping times are usually longer, or don’t want to deal with having to fill out a customs form. I think the customs form is mostly a formality in the event the package gets misrouted and enters another nations postal system. I’m waiting on one like right now. That’s their choice if they don’t want deal with it. I either take my business elsewhere or order it anyway (if I absolutely have to have it) and send it to a mail forwarding company to get it out here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am gonna go with the customs forms arguement. The more things are a pita the less people want to work for it. JMO
For myself, I have a very tiny window for any errands during weekdays. So the more time one task requires, the less of something else I am able to accomplish.
I agree Ken. 2 decades ago when I was buying and selling on 'dabay' I never shipped overseas either. The hassle of filling out the forms wasnt worth it for the small amount of $$$ made from each sale.
Several years ago I sold a locomotive to a European TrainBoard member (who has sadly disappeared from our ranks, uncertain why) and it was a hugely time-consuming job filling out all of the forms. They had to be in duplicate, with copies in the box and others accessible in a clear plastic envelope attached to the exterior of the box. The regulations involved an uncertain postal classification of the locomotive, with EU taxes based on it, to be paid by the receiver upon delivery. Helping a kind TrainBoard member, I had no reluctance in working it all, but I'd never do all of this for an eBay sale. @mtntrainman is right, margins are thin on eBay and it just isn't worth it.
I understand completely-wasn’t complaining-just trying to throw out the reasons why that I’ve seen “from the receiving end” in response to the OP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pirateship.com, the shipping site I have been using, has automated the customs forms process to the extent that a form will print out with the shipping label. Still not optimal (which would be not having to do one at all!) but less annoying than by hand.
I promised myself I'd stop citing links directly, but I'll make an exception here. I can tell you with 100 percent confidence that one of these cars has nothing to do with Canada. I can say that because I looked after the production of it as a special run! https://www.ebay.com/itm/224818615963
Did Quebec finally split ??? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh , I see. I'm looking for a Newfoundland and Labrador car & the FT A&B pair
The Newfy/Lab car (that's one car) is pretty easily gettable. The FTs are a bit harder to find, particularly the B unit. They are out there.
Here's a "Try-Your-Luck" kit listed for $25 with this one photo. Are all of the metal and wood parts inside? Maybe half of them? Instructions? I'd actually like to have this kit, but not this particular one.
