Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I'm sorry to read of the many struggles of injuries, health battles and even the loss of loved ones. May we be grateful for what we have and keep a positive outlook for a better tomorrow. Fortunately, we have the best pastime in the world to occupy our time and with that let's see what we have planned.

Saturday: Not too much planned. I have on the work bench a project that has been put off for far too long. A fully detailed and painted N scale GP30. I painted this same locomotive up for someone back in 2017 and the post office was kind enough to almost completely destroy the model. Parts had to be replaced, a complete re-paint and decal then life got busy. My New Year's resolution is to finish projects like this before starting new ones. I'm hoping to make some headway on this model as I'm now about 75% way done. I'll also finish the large task of restoring the track on the City Job for future operations sessions with my co-workers at Athearn. Years of storage took its toll on the track, but I now have two out of the three modules working great again. I hope to finish the third module and start building switch lists again in prep for a late January - early February Op session.

Sunday: We are going to visit Angela's dad and grandma before they leave next week for Florida. Our Aunt lives down there so they will visit until March. We'll spend some quality time with them before they disembark for their trip and will generally relax. Any time left over will be spent just enjoying each other's company, no real plans.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll come back on Monday the 17th to check in and see our results. I want everyone here to please be safe, take extra precautions and more importantly, take time for our friends and loved ones. This year has already been hard for many of us, let's keep the faith. Until Monday my friends, have a great weekend, do some great modeling, be safe, be healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

I’ve got some Micro Trains factory weathered rolling stock I think I’ll take a shot at. Boxcars and hoppers mostly.

Happy Friday to Y'all -- TGIF!!

I think, I'll head up to my layout - survey it - and go from there. There are many many potential projects. So, we'll see what grabs me.

    Report on Monday

    Y'all have a fantastic weekend,
    Wolf

Like @Jim Wiggin I have WAY TOO MANY unfinished projects.so I need to sort, categorize and think long and hard about about what I really want to do and what I don't, and adjust accordingly. Several MRR friends have recently done major reorgs and talking to them about products selected etc I think I have a plan-ish.

Of course, my ability to plan a weekend is extraordinary. My execution . . .

    Good morning all,

I'll be continuing work on the controls and wiring for the current expansion of my layout. Got a piece of clear acrylic cut for the control panel so I will likely be working on building that.

Today, I hope to finish construction on an Intermountain NSC 4550 CF Covered Hopper and mask the roof for painting on an Atlas Blue Island Reefer. But later in the day it will be bowling and hopefully I do better than I did on Tuesday night.

Saturday hope to paint the first color on the NSC Covered Hopper and paint the Blue Island Reefer. Also need to start building another 86' Greenville boxcar kit and PC&F R70-15 Reefer.

Sunday will be decaling the Blue Island Reefer and masking the Covered Hopper along with doing laundry.

    See you all later!

    Happy Friday everyone!

Saturday morning will be again doing a scout activity with my son. From there, we are off to get booster shots and maybe lunch. Should have a couple of hours after that and before some guest come by that I can get down to the layout and work on my winter layout projects.

Sunday depends on the weather. Forecast say it will be cold and wet here. That means it hopefully will be a good day to spend in the train room making more progress. Also have a few cars I need to do some tune up on and see how they run on the layout.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

    Weekend greetings.
This weekend I plan on working on some ballast, that is cleaning up the ballast on the north side of the layout room. I ballasted the mainline there about 3 months ago, but never put down a strip for the "cinder bed".

Also want to work on the new bridge and small section of elevated rail. We'll see what happens by Monday.

Stay warm! Snow/ice/general muck on the east coast this weekend. Here in Raleigh we're supposed to get the grand mix of stuff.

That's me too Wolf, perhaps trackwork, wiring or just thinking is in store for the weekend. Probably no railfanning, with a "wintry mix" on the way.

In spite of Friday the 13th coming on Thursday this month, I did get some stuff done. I have completed the running gear parts and now come the assembly for ten cars. Next will be the super structures. "Goofy" weather will be in play here as well. Particularly on Monday morning. All stay warm, safe and well. (y)

Just got a favorite old HOn30 critter back after a custom re-motoring. I will be giving it a nice test run. Might start building a T-Trak module as part of my starting all over with new bases. Scrap out a couple more of the old ones. And then...?

Haven't checked in for a while, but I have been making some progress on the next to the last section of the layout. After finally coming up with a workable track configuration that I'm happy with, I tinkered with the scene layout, laying out roads and building locations, and filling and leveling grades to avoid the 'plywood plains' look, and started a bit of scenery work. With tomorrow's forecast in the negative numbers (with wind chill...) and a winter storm on Sunday, I expect to spend a fair amount of time in the layout room (basement) this weekend. I'll be alternating between adding static grass and ground foam/rock/and other scenery materials, and finishing structure kits. Here are a few pictures of the current progress. I hope to add more after the weekends work.

Let’s see another week gone by…

I was able to get the track glued down on my module extension Wednesday and the lettering removed from a BLI 2-8-8-2. While I wait for the new decals to arrive I can get the modules finished. Also after spending the evening at the club I came to realize I may want to purchase my own throttle. I will need to do more research on that.

Saturday- run feeders to the track and ballast. Then start the scenery for Bekki’s deer farm (long story).

Once that is complete I have a pile of projects to do. I hope to start building two more module frames.

Sunday- once the scenery is dry I need to make the end plate covers to sand which this and another module together. Then I need to start repairing the structures that were broken in Evanston when a wind burst came through (open doors) the building and knocked everything on the floor. The module set is agriculture based so grain elevators and such. I guess it was prototypical to have a simulated tornado?

Moose have plans with Mrs Moose ... But will try to sneak in some time working on super secret project! :sneaky:

Said project requires some teenie tiny work with ropes, stairs, ladders and platforms -- to name a few semi-cryptic things. Hee hee hee...

Hoping to get at least half these things done this weekend, hooves crossed!

Driving home from the Evanston Free-moN meet in august we passed a field of alfalfa full of deer. My wife said hey look at the deer farm. I razzed her the rest of the way home. And now I will honor that razing with a small deer farm on the module.

We have the Christmas decorations to put away. Not sure what else we will do as the weather on Sunday will be lousy.

On the layout I hope to place more roadbed and work on some industrial sidings. I have a bunch of freight cars to tune up.

Need a prototype? Been a while since I have been there, but there was an elk farm along I-84 in Idaho. Just west of Glenns Ferry if memory serves. The signage was there long after the elk were gone.

    Stay safe,
