That means the cars inside would give this autorack the added weight it lacks...My big issue with the car is that it's too light - lighter than both the RC and waaay lighter than the MTL autorack. I can't put this at the front of the train - the rest of the trail will uncouple and derail the 2nd car.
So as some of you know, I like specialty cars, and also NS is my favorite class 1. Well what’s better than having a NS Specialty car! I got these from NScale Enthusiast. Can’t wait to get them on the rails. Oh and the doors even open! Way to go Micro-Trains.
Today I received the book I ordered 'Basic DCC Wiring' from Model Railroader. They also sent a CD 'DCC Programming Vol.2'. I don't have Vol.1 so I'll read the book first then watch the CD to determine if I need it. The wiring looks as complex as some of the early DC tracks I've worked on. The future may require more books. Rich
That surprises me. Was this the track wiring to run trains or wiring to run accessories that could be controlled by DCC? Track wiring is pretty much the same as DC in my experience. One exception is that if you want the decoder programming track to also be say a siding on the layout that requires an additional DPDT toggle switch. You still have to account for the wiring for wye's and reversing loops but that is similar and easily taken care of by auto-reversers unless you want to do it the old way and throw electrical switches. Also if you have a large layout and want to break it up into blocks/districts and add boosters and things like that then additional wiring past two wires from the command station to the track is going to have to happen. For smaller layouts it is pretty much run two wires from the command station (which might also be the throttle) to the track like you do with DC and you are off and running. Sumner
Well received what is probably my last passenger equipment today from Japan. Although it is not listed in the My Tram series this one is nearly the same and listed in the Unitram series. The same power chassis is used. Placed on the track it runs like a Kato smooth and flawless. Full throttle gets no more than 30-40 N scale MPH out of it which is great. 100_1536-4 by John Moore posted Dec 20, 2021 at 3:39 PM
Found a NOS 3 unit maxi online which makes it the second in my collection. Parts floating around in this set too lol so that makes it 0 for 2. No biggie as they are very well done cars, easy fixes and much better price than I could get on ebay. Also in the haul is my first atlas version of the trinity reefer. Some dcc updates for a few locos (sound is going in the SD24 pictured in the background) and a 2009 challenger from shapeways.
BASIC DCC Wiring book. A beginner's guide to decoders, DCC systems and layout wiring. For HO and larger there were DODO boards for all those things. We just needed to wire and setup controls. The DCC DODO board are now just plugged into an artificial device that does what we did. And yes in that book and the layouts I've seem on boards they do get complex. Back then I took a Tech. College course in how to make those DODO boards and connect them. So I was chosen to do it. Now it's to learn what those strangely named DODO boards actually do. So - on we move.
That is much newer than what I'ld like to have. Back home and here in Neenah, WI they were all flat black with no road emblem. They also had only one exhaust stack and fewer doors on the sides. They would use two together out on the main line back in the '60/'70s. In Neenah a few years ago it only brutally shoved around empties in the yard. Usually uncoupled. I'ld take two of those preferable with DCC capabilities.
My most recent purchase from the Swap Meet, me very happy. Me like deals I really like the boxcars that the doors open. Can you tell? And a couple of TOFC rolling stock. Nice Christmas present to myself. Kapton tape came in too today!
This is more of a general purchase applicable to all MRR scales, but Moose purchased a 1 year membership to NMRA. Hoping to meet other [fully masked & vax'd] modelers and possibly join one of the all-NMRA modular groups in the area. Hooves crossed!
Another Bachmann 4-8-4 Northern to be turned into another 2-10-4 Texas type. It was only NZD $30.00 so I couldn't help myself
Mine won't be here until the end of January. Who would have thunk there would be a shortage or high demand of Kapton tape. Of course in today's world...
Yesterday I received my Kapton tape and a bag of very small flat blade connectors I will need. I'm still waiting for another book on DCC I ordered. Hopefully it will arrive today. Then I will have some more reading for the weekend.
Haven't bought any books for a while. Came across a Kalmbach e-mail yesterday with a "One Day Only Sale" of books up to 50% off. The "up to" is where they usually get you with not many at 50% off. Certainly not the popular ones. I usually ignore these e-mails but for some reason decided to take a look. Low and behold two interesting ones were at 50% off! Ordered! $33 for both, tax and shipping (only $5.95 which is surprising for Kalmbach) included! Now that's what I call a sale!
Some Christmas presents I found that THE WIFE paid for ! Probably wont be here until after the 1st of the year...and thats ok. . And 4 daycab tractors and 1 trailer.... The checks are in the mail...the trucks are on their way...and....... I wait.... .
Received SDP40 shell from ShapeWays, perfect for BN Bicentennial !!! Been wanting this for AGES !!! Seems it may be very delicate. Ordered meat cleaver for foreign hands that get too close !!!
And now I know why I didn't get the first in the run, just kidding. Yes I was a bad boy and let the factory air out of the package Also George, I was always told by my dispatchers, "The load pays great, The Check is in the Mail" and I won't finish the last part as this is a family channel
