Alright, I was wrong. Was gonna only use Manual switches originally on my layout. But when I noticed it's a pain to either lean over the layout to get to the switches, when I added just a bit of scenery during mock-up's, it was even harder to get to them to throw manually. Now I can sit in my comfortable chair, it's how I roll, and with the flip of one button, throw 2 switches at the same time It's magic I tell you! Also, have them in the front now right next to me. So with a simple press of a few buttons I can throw 4 turn outs, without leaving my chair, and the trains can diverge, ( is that right? ) from the inner loop to the outer loop, and vice versa. Man what a concept! More remote switches please
I've had the same thoughts about my ideas. Now wondering how to do it with Kato track. And what else is necessary. Oh Boy the Fun. Like old times gone by.
Have no idea about Kato track. Too expensive for me. Plus I have been in the Atlas camp for 20-30 years and have too much track left over from all the buying Good luck with the Kato, I feel sure someone here will help you. My momentary rocker switches are out for delivery. I hope what I chose is not too BIG WE will see when I get them. Liked them cause they are Black and they look cool, and my base and foam is painted Black!
Yes I do remember the Atlas tracks and switches from the 1900s in N gauge. But starting in '06 I had decided to try HO. Which isn't happening. Going back to N now and mostly what I read is that Kato is the best for simple layouts. But I don't know what switches are like in them. They are different systems. Just tryin to move forward as best possible. Rich
Added a spur and using the Woodland Scenics Transfer Kit, for loading and unloading of goods. It should work? A few other items to figure out, as well as add a few more Remote switches to this base, and some more DCC wiring on the two spurs, and fix the roadbed on one location. See if I can figure out where I want the Woodland Scenics Just Plug lighting, and then drill all the holes for the extra DCC wiring runs, Just Plug lighting locations, and Remote Switch additions. And possibly add my NEW Momentary Rocker switches for the turn outs. Or might wait till later see if I need to make a small panel for such items? I would like to have a very, very basic control panel but have no clue how to do it, or start with it? I really like @Hardcoaler 's panel but just need some very simple since it is just a 2' x 4' base. Would like LED lights to show how it is switched, but it is not necessary on such a tiny base. And the thing about them being on folding tables is you have to remove it to do any kind of wiring, which is why I want to get it all done before any scenery is really added. Not to mention I have never done proper scenery either, and still undecided if I will try it or not? Probably will to some extent. But for the mean time, just the cheap WS sheet stuff, probably. If got it, might as well use it. I've had it for years. Any ideas about anything would be appreciated! I'll post updated progress photo's in the near future.
I don't think the flash triggered in that photo, and not really any details to see. Was just showing the spur? It's all detail less ( is that a thing? ) right now Only thing you can do is click on the photo to enlarge it, really! Not much to see!
The photo is quite dark. That's why I asked as most of the time it's because people have their flash on. This cause the device to use a smaller aperture as the light is reflected back. But since most on board flash is pretty week, the rest of the photo, especially at the perimeter, looks dark. Made some adjustments.

It's called crappy lighting. It's horrible in the room. Although usually all I have on is a lamp behind me, but that picture was taken with the lights on the fan ON, like I said, it just sucks Looking at getting some small LED work lights you see in a garage, but small version. Wally World has them, as well as other places.
Amazon at the link below. They are Rocker Momentary and kind of cool, although I could really use an LED or some way to know which why it is thrown, but for my small 2' x 4', I'll be fine, me thinks? Anyone know how to wire an LED to it so if it is lit it's one way and if the LED is OFF say it is the divergence way? Alright looking for the correct spade connectors for the momentary switches I bought. That's how much I hate soldering Am I correct that the Male spade on the momentary rocker switch is 4.8 mm according to the picture below and the the Female 4.8 mm spades will work with the switches? Yes there are. I have two boxes of the 4.8mm. One from Archer and one from local auto supply. I see in the ad you linked to that there's even smaller ones available. Best wishes with crimping in place of solder. I have three different types of crimping tools as well.
Yes, those will work. You may want to have some black Sharpies or small pieces of black shrink tubing if you are using non-polarized marked wires. This way you can distinguish the + and - if you have a DC layout. Even if you are using DCC you don't want to cross phase the signal. Unfortunately the red color is for the gauge range of the wires and not positive or negative.
The local hardware and auto stores are strange as well. All blade and bullet females are red. The males are mid blue and green. There are no whites or blacks. User beware. Rich
Well I am using the AC output of my DC controller. And Left spade Green, Middle + AC Power, Right spade Red, and I should be able to daisy chain the CENTER spade for Power right? And ALL of the BLACK wires on the Turnouts go back to Negative? Me thinks I just confused myself typing it, but my test connection on one worked. I can also bust out the Paint Pens again.
Your written description confuses me. But if your test connection is working it should be fine. Electricity is not forgiving.
