It's one of those late 1960s Bachman GP-40s that is bloated in size to near TT Scale and was an awful runner too. Combined with its smashed shell, it's just another piece of total garbage that someone has taken the time to list.

All, There is No concept of what Vintage N-SCALE is from this seller > NEW Atlas - N Scale Vintage 4200 Undecorated RS-3 Diesel Locomotive 642988042001 | eBay. This Locomotive here on ebay happens to be a ATLAS / KATO Made ALCO RS3 . As I see it Vintage N-SCALE would be Either ATLAS a1g = ATLAS / MEHANO , ATLAS 2nd Generation = ATLAS / ROCO … ATLAS / KATO is Definitely Not N Scale Vintage as the ebay seller states here ! Anyone else here agree ? Tom
All, ebay, again Thank You for the good Laugh on the category of Toys & Hobbies, Model Railroads & Trains ! I believe ebay was Easier to use when they Offered these Options for payment. M.O. , p.pal along with these as well. See Photo. Tom
I'm not going to post the link to this one, it's not N Scale anyway, but I am further not going to provide any additional publicity. Someone has decided to turn a model railroad listing into a political statement. I won't comment on the type or direction of the statement other than that it was blatant. Politics make my trains nervous. This particular seller is on my permanent no buy list.
All, How's this one! Atlas N #4200 RS-3 Locomotive -- Undecorated 642988042001 | eBay. Here is a photo of the ATLAS RS3 see below. Tom
So what is "vintage N-scale?" Vintage is an objective term, some people say at least 20 years old, some say at least 40, some have other limits. That model was first made in 1983, nearly 40 years ago, so I can see how some would call it vintage.
In antiques, some say 25 years, others say as much as 50 years- or even more. It is a point of much debate, and no absolute agreement. In such as glassware, myself once heavily into that part of "antiques", (an accumulator and a dealer), the post-WWII stuff is simply referenced as "collectible".
My brother recently heard the period that we grew up in has now been labeled as "Mid Century" by antiquers and furniture stylists. Once known only as Boomers, we're now "Mid Century" men.
