Can someone tell me or point me to a picture/illustration of how you wire the Kato UNItrack Double crossover track. Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Wiring the double crossover- place feeders at or very near each leg of the double crossover. Kato feeders are wht and blue. The key, and this applies to really all wiring is to ensure that the feeder wires are not crossed. On my layout, all the outside rails are white. If any question whether inside or outside rail when connecting any of the 4 feeders, use the finger approach and follow the rail. Ohm meter or continuity checker can check if crossed and short exists and it is highly recommended to test for shorts before connecting track to controller.
i use a car and paint a blue spot on one side then on other side paint a white spot and roll that around the track to keep order of what wires go where left rail right rail.. all four corners of kato double cross ove need feeder either close to them or further down the line.. the car makes it easy for me
or you can wire this way either way just make sure the same rails are wired all the way around. thats why the car painted blue on one side and white on the other makes it easy to follow..
jerry thats a great diagram im snagging it for future reference. Thanks for sharing. Hardcoaler your welcome it sure saves me time and head ache as well ( its not my idea i got it from some one here i think ) cant remember who .
This is how I have mine wired and it has performed flawlessly. I think you are right about someone posting this idea here before and it is a good one that I used too. Hardcoaler, I used a piece of blue painters tape on one side of a boxcar when I stol...... ummmmm...... I mean borrowed this idea.
Yea...I posted about using a piece of black or blue tape on the side of a boxcar to keep wiring the same all around a layout years ago. Just push the car around...whatever side has the blk or blu tape is the rail that gets that same color wire. Most problems come when we try to wire the tracks across the layout. It always throws us which rail gets what wire as it looks reversed from the front of the layout viewing.
I switched to unitrack for the simplicity. Double super elevated curves gave me fits right away. even with the transitions in place my pickups were coming off on some locos. Added a double crossover everything seemed to be going good. Simple oval V14 kit. Added a second double crossover everything stalls out after crossing over. Added second terminal track and everything's good again.
