You should have scooped up those terminal joiners. They will be hard to find.

Yeah your right, one was on Amazon and the other the Hobby Shop. They both were a good price too. Might be trying to make my own? But would rather not! And the 2 terminal boards are important cause I have another 2' x 4' base to make an L!

BTW, new cell phone case too on the order! I mean I use TapaTalk on the phone so it's kind of railroad related :)

Found 13 pairs on eBay selling for $19.99 plus free shipping. He had a Make Offer on it, so I made him an offer he couldn't refuse, The Godfather! But actually he did refuse the $12.99 I offered and counter offered $14.99, so he did refuse it :) Buying the 13 pairs at $14.99, actually a really good price with Free shipping :)

    Sorry, I couldn't resist :)

Never hurts to do the make offer option. Worst case no deal but best case is you don't spend as much. Good job!

Alright in all the years of my off and on with my N Scale model railroading, I have never made it past just the basics of just getting it to a point of just running trains. This time I thought about it, actually spent time building good bases as a good foundation, painting the bases, with leveling feet, foam and cork board under the foam, instead of a solid piece of plywood, as I already had it and will be easier to drill through for wiring, etc... I've never had more than one connection to the track. Even with the L piece up. Of course not paying attention and frying a DCC locomotive did not help any. But now I have the terminal track joiners ordered and on the way, already received the terminal joiners for wiring, and also have the wire. New manual switches for one base, although I need to buy at least two new remote switches to throw at the same time in the back that is against the wall and I can't rally get too, or when scenery and buildings are applied will not be able to get too.

And the most important one of all. I am actually spending money on items I want, decent wood for the base, track, buildings, switches, electrical, vehicles, etc... and the list goes on. Now I am at the point soon where I must tackle the DCC wiring attempt again. But I am going to go slow, and just work on a simple Oval, and wire it up using DC as too not fry my DCC locomotives. I will have many questions going forward? I have WS Road Paving System, etc... Excited and scared at the same time. If have also realized it's not built in a day, take my time, work on it when it is fun, ( well frustrating at times ), go really slow, which I am not usually good at :)

Wish me luck! Maybe one day it will actually look like a decent layout and I will learn things along the way!

    Here's hoping?

And oh yeah, new motors on the way. Never ordered any parts before! Already looking at NEW locomotives to purchase in 2021 or 2022!

Symmetrical Cross Over is what I need to wire for Remote Switches on the back of my small layout that I won't be able to reach or scenery will get in the way of manual switches. What kind of switch do I need? I would prefer a lighted one so I know when it is thrown? DPDT, or what? I want to test this when I get my terminal joiners in this week and test wire just a simple Oval to start with. Thank goodness for my Nine Scale Model railroads book from the 1990's. I use this thing all the time, and over 20-30 years I refer to it.

Mock up roads to get an idea? More work to do as other areas will have parking lots etc.

More mock-up to get an idea before I start on DCC wiring at some point. Still more mock-up to do to give me an idea of what might work. Any suggestions ? I know some areas seem tight and curb grass might be too big etc, just trying to get an idea. What you think? I didn't get the entire layout in the photo, some of the right missing but not too much! You get the idea! Simple straight roads for now while I learn.

I really dig the shelves I added. Use them all the time. Question, when someone (me) thought of this on plastic tables, they did not think of metal adjustable feet slipping on said surface. Any ideas?

I was thinking of using the same set-up. I have a 6ft. and two 4ft. foldable tables. I added 1" plastic tubing to stiffen and attached plastic cabinets to those braces to make them quit stabile. But I may be giving up on the hallow core doors. And go with foam sheets instead.

I really like this setup. The L will not be up most of the time. But nice for long running locomotive’s and rolling stock, and my CB&Q 6 car set will be here Friday. Just need to figure out how to fasten bases to tables temporarily when using them so when I bump into them they do not slide.

That curve on the lower right is waaay too close to the edge! I hope that's only temporary or a "test fit". :D

You may be right. My 6' table is 29" wide. The 4'ers are 24" wide.
I would use 1x2s across under the table with bolts going up to self locking nuts in the top. That way when you remove the bolts nothing stick down on the bottom. Solder a wing nut or washer on edge for a means of installing and removing.

Yeah pretty much the entire thing is too close to an edge. Almost all the curves and the long straight run on the left of the picture. That's where a flat car and the trailer on it, decided to jump off into the carpet yesterday :) I have some poster board I bought at the dollar store years ago, I am thinking about cutting and putting around the edges? That's the ting about small layouts trying to get most out of it, for instance my Intermountain A&B FT unit sometimes they kiss each other when going around a curve. But I think the very edge curve closet to you in the picture, has a wrong piece in the curve. Even when it works, it's really close keeping the A&B unit from kissing ( only term I can think of ), sorry!

What's it called fascia? Have to figure something out, and that is removable also, as that piece has to be stored under a bed or in the attic, which is 10 feet from where the layout is luckily!

C&L living on the Edge, literally :)

An idea. How about using rolled up one sided corrugated cardboard for fascia. It's available in the shipping supplies dept. Held in place with push pins from office supplies dept. It's a continuous surface and can be re-rolled for storage.

And fake fascia done. Better than nothing? Foam board, think it’s project board for school project’s? Bought this stuff years ago.
