Good point. Weight can be a factor if considering this type of layout for any portability.

Most folks don't realize it but Milwaukee, WI gets about a dozen earthquakes a year. Pictures will shimmy and dishes will rattle.
Folks just thinks it a big truck or railroad train going through.

We blame them (earthquakes) on the fracking here. Doesn't bother me. I felt my bed sway back and forth a bit, once.

    Drill, baby, drill!

The most seismically active areas of the USA are the Pacific Rim ("Ring of Fire") and all along both the Bitterroot and Rocky Mountain ranges. There are earthquakes by the dozens, daily. But most are never felt or even realized. Idaho seems to have fewer, but slightly larger shakers.

For George- The list of quakes in Nevada for the last 30 days is in the hundreds. You should see what a USGS map looks like. Yikes!

Good idea! There has been zero activity in your vicinity for a long time. Usually in my area we never feel them, but they happen frequently. The big ones hit down south, closer to Yellowstone.

I'll stay in upper Wisconsin. We haven't had a big forest fire since the night Chicago had there's. And we've got more cows.

When earth has no more 'quakes, that means the core is frozen (as in no longer molten, not necessarily cold).
When the core is frozen, the magnetic field goes away.
When the magnetic field dies, the atmosphere gets stripped away by the unhindered solar wind.
When the atmosphere is stripped away, we all die (like Mars).

I'll take the 'quakes as reassurance everything is still OK.

We have 2 or 3 earthquakes a day where we live - back yard has the CSX (ex-Chessie System/C&O/Pere Marquette) tracks running through it.
