Some progress photos of the Gavilon West Elevator. I’m currently adding details to the 2 conveyors that sit on top of the storage bins.
Dale, You just keep hitting it out of the Park, buddy!! Someday I will get back into buildings and scenery. I hope I can do as good as you...
Labor Day weekend operations at the Port. We had 3 visitors move cars around for around 2 and a half hours. We are running a fairly busy operations schedule with 2 sessions this month and with Tulsa Union Convention next month we will have 3 more on the books. That will probably finish out the year. I need to keep better track, but this should bring us over a dozen ops sessions this year. Operating yesterday was Stephen and Allen, new to our railroad and Kevin who is an old hand at the port. I even jumped on for a bit, well just long enough to put a couple of locos on the ground.......
Dale, other than the silos, did you use kits for this build or did you scratch build it? The Rainier Great Western HO Scale Railroad
Hi Micheal, The silos are 2” pvc pipe I bought at the box store. The base and top of the silos are 1/2” and 1/8” MDF I had. The base is square and I traced around the silos after gluing them together, then cut the top out with my band saw. The grain conveyors are Rix kits. The structure around them is Plastruct angle shapes along with some pieces that came out of the scrap box. I built the tall top structure out of styrene. And added layers and beams to give it some interest. You will see a round tank structure up there, it is from a Walthers Industrial Tanks kit. The square structure on top at the back was out of the Walthers Lumber Mill kit. You have one on the RGW. so it’s a bit of everything. Thanks, Dale
Fabulous stuff. What is the trackside tower with the green colors. What purpose does it serve? The Rainier Great Western HO Scale Railroad
The green top is another conveyor. It’s not in its final position yet. I want to add another horizontal conveyor going out to the channel. The vertical conveyor will feed it. I am also building a smaller square bin to go along side the main elevator, that will also be connected the the green top conveyor.
