A pair of N Scale M-T hoppers I painted in Lehigh & New England long before M-T offered them. Decals are by Northeast, a supplier that left the market decades ago and is sorely missed today.

Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio! Made it back from California in one piece after taking the Red-Eye.

    This weeks contribution:

Branchline 40' 1944 AAR Boxcar kit, new sidesill from Evergreen Plastic and A-Line Sill Steps, car was painted with Scalecoat II Big Sky Blue and lettered with Mask Island Decals. The LNAC was a 7 mile shortline off the Southern in Louisville and leased the Evans rebuilds for general use, many found their way to Bufallo servicing the flour mills on the Bufallo Creek Railroad.

Walthers 4427Cf Covered Hopper Kit, equipped with a Plano Roofwalk, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer White and lettered with Herald King Decals. The Lehigh Valley purchased or leased cars from General American, Bethlehem Steel and Pullman Standard to service the grain elevators in Bufallo, NY. I am using the Walthers Car as a standin for the Bethlehem Steel car with had the same panel arrangement.

I agree. Northeast Decals had quite the selection, and their quality was really good.

Stewart C630 dressed up as CN 2000:

    IMGP3313A.JPG

in addition to painting and decals, I added the nose headlights and (not visible) the as-delivered bell (on right side just ahead of the central air hump) and horn locations. Some time after delivery, CN moved the bell and horn to the usual location at the top front of the cab.

CN 2000 and 2001 were delivered with dynamic brakes. The motive power department guys loved them because with their dynamics they could simulate braking and train resistance when doing dynamometer tests on new locomotives or demonstrators.

Got me to thinkin', has anyone ever put a flashing LED on a pantograph, to simulate the sparks from the overhead?

Just use a really small one, and have it flash randomly as it rolls down the tracks. Of course you'd have to have the catenary as well, but that'd get people talking, specially if the lights were dimmed in a city scene....(y)

Mainline service has been restored on upper and lower lines through the new construction at Sebring (Ohio) Model Railroad Club in preparation for November's Open House. By next year this blank slate will be transformed into a bustling port facility complete with tugboats, car floats, and other ship traffic.[IMG]

Bachmann had one on their HO PCC from a few years ago, and I have also seen some videos online of Kato and Tomix shinkansens with an arc flash effect (although I think they were modeler-added, not a factory feature like the Bachmann model)

The club is a inside of a former Pennsylvania Railroad freight station that they bought (and moved!) from Norfolk Southern. I'm hoping to make a couple videos about it eventually.

    It definitely pretty roomy.
