It was part of the CP's MOW roster. Most likely to lift and put down stuff that was too heavy for manual labor but not large or heavy enough to justify a full-sized crane. It worked off compressed air - note the air tanks.

 

Yup!! Soooo, MT had to set us up for a May blizzard! I fully expect one in June this year, too! Why? It just seems like the kind of year for that to happen! And you can bet I will be out in it! This was my view coming home from Hodges yesterday,

 

Typical in most northern states. In New Hampshire it was, "Summer come July 24th, 4:30 PM."

 

Tell me about it...

But on the bright side, during construction season, everybody else is shoveling something. In winter, I have to shovel it all myself...
