Hey, it was a hot ballast train. The semi driver did it a favor by cooling it off...or sumpin' like that.
OK, I'll go back into my hole.

I am sure it would be a big negative for driving history. At least it would seem he did not run any stop indication, getting where the truck sat at impact. It looked like he was high centered, which is bad enough....

Can't say the driver was not warned. They need to be on the lookout for these yellow caution signs seen here on the right. But then some of them seem to ignore overhead clearance signs as well.

Some truckers think the signs don't apply to them. Near my house there is a very sharp pair of switchbacks on a two-lane state highway. So many large trucks were getting into accidents and clogging the highway that CalTrans eventually put up multiple VERY LARGE yellow signs warning trucks with trailers longer than 50 feet to use an alternate route. Guess what ... Every year some poor car STILL ends up getting crushed by a truck with a 57-foot trailer that required both lanes in order to clear the sharp turns. It's crazy.

Did I mention that CalTrans put up VERY LARGE yellow signs warning trucks with trailers longer than 50 feet to use an alternate route?

every body blame the driver just maybe the dam truck broke down right thar. ive had it happen to me. i want to know the full story not just your comments on how its his fault . you know with out trucks you would have no food no tp no nothing. lay off. yes i take offense to this as im a trucker or ex trucker . and i do get hot when people blame us for crap we had no control over. soory this is a very sore subject for me and my family. even though i know there are stupid drivers out there that should not be in a car much less a truck.

Sorry, most drivers are very responsible and professional. However, the few bad examples give the whole lot a bad reputation sometimes. In this case the truck was high centered and stuck on the tracks.

The police mention a problem with the "incline grade" of the crossing in this report.

High Centering is the proof of a irresponsible driver.
