I discovered while doing RC marine stuff, working boats mostly that sometimes using something slightly out of scale smaller looked more realistic than what was in scale. Things like deck bollards, lighting, and other deck equipment I would sometimes use a different scale (ie 1:48 on a 1:32 model) with good results. Maybe the street lighting will be similar...

I do ike the smaller size. I really like the thinness of the poles. I think we have a winner ! (y):D:D

Those look much closer to N scale than Z scale. Very good find!

    Thanks - I know, right-?
I can only imagine what the "N-Scale" street lights would look like.
And - what these would look like on a Z-scale layout.

Thanks to your post about these lights I have made my first purchase in the past 5 years from eBay. I got 50 of the small lamps and 30 of the taller lamps. I guess I will get most of this in May from what I seen.
Wolf... how did you wire up your street lamps? Did you use a distribution board(s) to organize better?

    I need some help...

While I wait for our new lamp posts to get here on a slow boat from China. I am working on the traffic signals at the only intersection in 'Jeans Valley'. I cant seem to find the kind I am looking for :(

The traffic signals will be attached to the outrigger that I am making that come off the light posts....

    Like so......

I will also need to put some on the light pole itself....

    like so...

I would like them all to look like the last picture. Simple...flat...and thin.
I found some 3D printed ones but they seem to be way to deep (fat) :(

BTW...these will be 'non-functioning'. I just need them there for static display...to at least
make it look like I am controlling traffic...:D:LOL::ROFLMAO:

Does anyone know of a dealer who sells the thin ones ? THE CFO says she doesnt want a 4 light cluster hanging over the intersection by cable. She wants them pole mounted.

~Traffic lights come in two sizes, dictated by the U.S. Department of Transportation - 8 inch and
12 inch. The 8-inch traffic signals are approximately 30 inches tall, 9.5 inches wide and 6 inches
deep. The 12-inch signals are 42 inches tall, 13.5 inches wide and 8 inches deep. These
measurements apply to the main body of the signal without visors.~

Any help will be appreciated...TIA (y)

Back in the early 1960's, when I was knee high to a grasshopper, I remember the traffic signals being on poles on the corner of busy intersections. Some wider intersections had medians... so the poles would be in the median. I don't remember when or if there were any 'hanging' three aspect traffic signals until about 1970. There were plenty of hanging single aspect signals which flashed yellow or red in some rural areas.

If you send me the dimensions you want them in (mm would be preferable) I can have a go printing some out for you.

The most obvious problem with traffic signals that are within the right of way, whether dangling on cables or affixed to a pole, is the clearance beneath the signals to the street. As box trucks a trailer rigs got larger, the clearances would have to be modified (like on overpasses). Depending on the era modeled... that clearance would have to be taken into consideration. Some overpasses are still not to current standards... and some really bad accidents have occured with trailer rigs. Usually driver error by not paying attention to height restrictions posted well ahead of the overpass. BTW... I really hate the dangling cable traffic signals. On very windy days they look like they are going to come crashing down on whatever is beneath them.
