Wow, that is just amazing for a color shot like this in those times! So clear and detailed!

Yeah, Russell's color photos of "black and white days" are wonderful!

Might be a rerun, but with as many photos as I have, no tracking system to know what's posted where, it's hard tellin' not knowin'...
Here's CP 7019 trailing a toaster on CP train 296 (second section train 196).

I have probably posted this one before but I just went back to the original file and tweaked it some. Conway, New Hampshire.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that if the railroad did not have a specific design in mind, EMD offered to design paint schemes for their customers based on a catalog of styles. The customers could pick the colors, different stripe patterns or a combination of them. Kind of like a criminal sketch artist showing a witness different styles of facial features to recreate the image of a suspect.:cautious:

    Interesting locomotive-built as Northern Pacific #296 as a GP9 in Feb. 1957!

I know I have read that, too.

BTW, the phrase i wrote, above, is supposed to read "BLACK and white days", not "back and white days".

B&M's Minute Man scheme, my favorite. Between 1947 and 1953 I would see four to six 4 unit braces of FTs and F2s pass every day on the New York end of B&M's Fitchburg Division.

I lovingly patted 4268 in Conway, Labor Day, 2017. Thanks for the memory.

Look again! I thought the same thing, then realized it's the sun reflecting off of the shiny paint.

Taken last Saturday, CSX F764 passes the former SAL depot at Camden, SC destined for a lumber plant just up the line at Shepard. The 4302 is a GP-39-2 of Reading heritage. Wanting better light, I waited in vain for F764's return. I'll try again soon.
