I absolutely love this, great idea! Our eventual travel plans should have us heading the US in the next few years and the wife has always wanted to get an RV. Might be time to indulge her wishes.......
Success !!! My 'Social Media Guru' aka THE WIFE figured out the problem with my youtube account. I'm back in !!! It's only been 6 years since I last uploaded a video and gave up on YouTube.... I have to go thru my videos and get some more uploaded. I also have to do a new one of the *finished layout*....lol Stay tuned friends !!
Ok...I uploaded a bunch of videos I found on my computer from back in 2014 ! Have a look and enjoy... https://www.youtube.com/user/mtntrainman I hope to get out to THERR RV by this weekend and record a new video of the layout. Lots of changes in 7 years....
That would be the current residents of 'Georgetown'...a derelict shell of what was once a thriving railroad town.
In my neck of the woods it is the stop signs laying in the median or the mailbox post and all laying in the street, victims of the town drunk. And you can't forget the wheel rutted yard where the SOB came up 4 or 5 feet in your yard not to mention a few parts left from the car he was driving.
Used to, you could re-enforce your mail box to retard damage from idle baseball bats, or even return serve to a vehicle attempting to run over them. Now you can be sued for damages to their vehicle and selves, and perhaps cited for violating a local ordinance mandating break-away mailboxes. You see, drunks, druggies and misguided youths have to be protected from the consequences of their own actions, so they can "grow up" into fully participating burdens on society. So, in keeping to a model railroading theme, I'm envisioning a scene along a street with a string of destroyed mailboxes and mail littering the lawns, leading up to an intact, fortified mailbox, with only the remains of a shattered bat littering the lawn...
I checked my street light orders from Amazon... Ordered February 17 Shipped February 18 Arriving March 10 - March 31 All I can figure is that they are coming by slow freighter from Tatooine !
3 days of standing and leaning over the layout to paint road lines and parking lot lines and my osteoarthritic knees said "Enough" ! I've been down and out for 2 days now. Can't hardly walk ! The line painting is all done now anyways. At least now I will be able to get back on my mechanics stool and cruise up and down the aisle while working on other things on top of the layout...as soon as the knee swelling goes down !
George, that bites about the knees (touchy subject with me too right now) but looking at how nice the striping turned out, I'd say it was worth it.
Okane, I've been going through my paints. I don't have any craft paints in red or yellow so the color chart is on hold. Probably for a while. I've just discovered structure building videos on YouTube by asd asx. For now I'm going to order paints based on what he uses on a specific build. I don't have the same kits he builds but I'll use the colors and finish from a particular build to get the look I'm after on my structures. I'm chomping at the bit to start building models but have more to do on the layout first.
Ok...an update on my street lights: I just complained that they said they would be Arriving March 10 - March 31 after ordering them February 17. They must have kicked that slow freighter from Tatooine into 'ludicrous speed' because the first package of lights showed up Saturday afternoon ! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0827YLTKM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm now expecting the rest today or tomorow
This Brand: Bonarty...sure makes some nice fine scale lights ! I am impressed ! The others that are coming are from 2 different manufactures. If they dont look half as good as these...I am going to see if Bonarty have single street lights and maybe even decorative lamps posts in N Scale.
