I sometimes just like to hear the clickitty clack of the wheels over the gaps in the tracks. It relaxes me. I unfortunately can only do it over the weekends. But yes hearing the trains feels much better.

Yup! It seems that the second truck on that car has a way of finding track issues. In this case, the switch points may need a bit of TLC. It was the first attempt at pulling a train through those switches and down that track. Sure is fun!

Cool to see the trains running again. I have to admit, I have looked at this pic of the thermometer several times. Man that is brutal!

And I spent half of yesterday in it, working on frozen stuff. Most of last week, as well. Water lines do like to freeze in this weather!

And even the best maintained of vehicles! Mine is only a few years old. But the remote starter has been balky with the well below zero night temperatures. Not sure why it is acting up. Battery, starter itself, etc, are fine. But the signal just does not complete the required cycle to spin the starter. Strange.

Ouch! That does not sound like fun.

As for the water lines, it's when they thaw that is the real problem.

That -35 temp is what's really silly. Wow, it got cold! We had a slice of that pie in ND as well. Good to see trains run!

The good thing about that cold is the work that comes of it! So I can pay bills and have a bit for trains???

The only frozen water I have left is the line that feeds my one trailer in the court I own. At least the daughter and grandkids can come here as needed. Tried thawing it today by blowing hot air up the pipe. No go, yet. Sooo, tomorrow, which will be a nice day, we will drop boiling water down a small pex pipe down the frozen pipe. It's vertical where it comes up out of the ground, which aids in that process considerably.

On a train note, I managed to get 3 nice train vids today, ran a couple of trains for a guest, and worked on the Loksound install on the 844. I do plan to back date it to and FEF-2, which are barely different. 821 most likely. We will see.

70 degrees inside... -35 degrees outside. A 105 degree temperature swing.
I am guessing that BadlandNP also owns a personal nuclear reactor to keep everything humming along.

That's an interesting thought! A small reactor would be sweet to have! It can boil a LOT of water! Hey! A nuclear fired steam locomotive with a re-condensing water system could run for a very long time! Now that's an idea.......

I actually did work as a Nuc Electrician in the Navy way back. That was a fun thing to do, playing with 'zoomies' making hot water to steam to do the work.

On another note, we did get the water line thawed out, only took about 3 gallons of boiling water. So far, so good!

Back to the loco. The first driver has a tendency to climb the rails. It is in gauge. I have it on my bench awaiting 'fidgetting' to get it right. That and the front truck doesn't like to stay on the track. May have to add weight to it? First I shall research it to see if it is a common issue. Then back to setting CV's and running it in.

Sounds and looks good. That bell seems a bit 'electronic', for lack of a better word.... :)
