I know I should plan the layout before making the benchwork, but in my case I couldn’t get a sense for what I was going to end up with without trying to build the underlying structure first. I’m really happy that 2 weeks after getting back into the hobby I have my layout surface built and levelled, ready to try flex track and test curves. Originally I was going to go with Byron Henderson’s “Water Wings” 8x10 layout plan and stretch it to fill my slightly larger area and widen the minimum radius + add easements. Now I’m not sure, as I’ve modified this quite a bit and might just end up experimenting and drawing it in myself.
Revelstoke, BC (station and turnaround loop planned) Fraser Canyon, CP Rail Cisco Bridge Entrance to Vancouver, industries (Rogers Sugar Factory etc) Vancouver Waterfront Station on the left half, with the station as a scenic barrier and a transition through a tunnel to the yard in False creek on the right half. Complete a loop and return to Vancouver industries area.
That is 6 feet wide, so I should have easily 4-5 feet of the building. It is quite large, but I’m not planning a ‘replica’ per se. I’d like to get the spirit of the building without having to replicate precisely.
