These pictures that are hanging are somewhat of an inspiration. The Adel station is a one of a kind. That big Yellowstone pic I found at an antique store. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

This is gonna be a challenge maybe. Once I get the trestles. Then I have to build the landscaping around them. The top trestle is pretty much ready to go. The bottom one will need to be foamed up around it. This will be fun![IMG]

The big one scales out at 146'. The smaller one behind is 89'. Its been fun building them. And now that my motivation is back and much of the stroke weirdness is I am back to work..

I am actually almost impressed with myself. I got the trestle out and can finish it. Trying to get the canyon to look right will be fun. I am glad I am back to being motivated![IMG]

I've used a combination of a couple different things. Newspaper. I even tried some napkins just to see what would happen. ( not the best idea I have ever had. But the are very pliable and easy to manipulate. But they like very loose Plaster.) My favorite is old dryer sheets. They leave a very nice texture.
I also use a makeup blush brush to brush on Plaster in places like the gorge or where I see lines. It all works very well. I think.
I use a file to finish my contours on the hills and mountains. It helps to get rid of any stair step looks.

That file sir, is sometimes referred to as a four in hand. Very handy indeed! Pun intended.

Did a test fit tonight with the trestles. Pretty much the way I hoped it would go. What do you all think? I will still need paint detail and some other little things before I put them back in place. [IMG]

Incredible gorge. I know the real railroads were built across gorges with stair step to locate trestle foundations, but I think yours might be a bit too pronounced. If you have a prototype bridge you are working to replicate the flavor of, cool, but perhaps the stair steps under the trestle could be blended a bit more naturally. They do look a bit abnormal directly under the trestle. Does that make sense?
